Headed to Baton Rouge for the Bama game with my old boss. I'm leaving around 9 this AM, any places, hole-in-the-wall or other, that are can't miss along the way for lunch? How about breakfast spots in BR for Saturday morning or on the way back Sunday? TIA Ags.

There's a place in BR that serves gravy covered boudan omelettes for breakfast. Can't remember the name.

The Flying J travel plaza in Orange is very dear to me.

The very first exit once your over the LA line (Exit 104) there's a real shady casino next to a gas station. You MUST stop there and get a daquiri.

Seriously...Anytime we drive past that exit we stop and get a 66 oz daquiri with a small side of lung cancer. It's the worst but man it's the best!!

Thank you all, putting these on my list now. If anyone else is headed down there, I'll likely be at Tin Roof brewery around 3 or 4... look for the guy in the throwback Rangers hat.

Prejeans in Lafayette is a little hokey/touristy, but damn good food. Best Stop in Scott (exit 97) is just north of I-10 a half mile and has some killer boudin balls. Probably a better stop on the way home and stock up on some smoked boudin for the house. If you are a little behind your time schedule, Daryls in Lake Chuck has the best poboys I have ever eaten and is right on the loop. Too many good options to name in that craphole of a state.

Blue Dog Cafe in Lafayette has a pretty awesome Sunday brunch buffet. Be sure to try the corn & crab bisque.

I will be in BR as well. My swamp kitty relative got good seats in the bama section.

Best Stop is my go to for Boudin. Bring a cooler and load up on yor drive home, but also at the same exit is Billy's which has great boudin balls.

In Lafayette a bit off the freeway is Old Tyme Grocery for good po boys. Also the French Press in Lafayette makes a damn fine meal.

In Winnie you can stop for a boudin omelette at Al T's

Steamboat Bills in Lake Charles is always overrun with customers. I've never stopped but I have a friend who goes there on every trip to LA.

I haven't even tried the gumbo! Did brunch last Sunday. Great bloody marys. I enjoyed a boudin omelet, the wife had seafood stuffed french toast. Both excellent.

Passed Darrells too early, so I hit up Old Tyme Grocery... Pretty good stuff! A half Special an fries was more than enough! On to Tin Roof. Sounds like Parrains for brunch. Have to do Darrell's next year. Keep the ideas coming.

I love the food and eye candy there, but can't imagine it's worth the hour plus wait before/after a game.

Didn't realize Tin Roof has a tasting room now, pretty nice place and a good selection of beers.

Also just realized I'm staying 2 minutes walking distance from Parrains. Done.

Stop at Darrells on the way home. Get the special.

Darrell's is closed on Sunday. Found out the hard way coming back from LSU last year.
