This story is so unbelievably sad. It is all over our newscasts today. One of our producers had seen the family at different events. I listened to what was read in PC court. The 15-year-old girl was SO brave. She had played dead after she was shot. Investigators say the shooter tied up the family, put them face down and shot them all. He was looking for his ex-wife. The girl had told investigators at one point that the guy intended to go to her grandparents next.

He had also posed as a Fed-Ex driver the first time he came to the door and was turned away. Fed-Ex says he is a former employee.

They were an LDS family; dad was a Boy Scout leader and the son was a Scout.

Really messed up situation. Will be interesting to see how this guy was viewed by the rest of his family. Wonder if he was the red-headed stepchild that never got any of the attention he required. Obviously had a ton of pent up anger and animosity to carry out something this horrific. Hopefully the 15-year old survives. Can't imagine watching your whole family get murdered. Unreal.

What a beautiful family. My heart breaks for them, especially knowing the fear they must have felt up to their deaths.

Something like this happened to a classmate of mine when I was in highschool. Someone broke in, tied up a dad, my classmate, and his older brother, and executed them. The mom and daughter found them. I never heard it was solved. The kids who knew them will be resillient. It is the adults who will really understand how horrific this was.

I cannot comprehend the evil and illness required for such a heinous act. The cops should have saved us all a trial and dropped this sick SOB. Or he should have ate a bullet himself.

Being a father seeing such violence visited upon children makes me physically ill.

I was hoping SWAT would have opened fire on his car or a single sniper bullet would have shattered his skull. F that POS. How anyone can do that, much less to kids, kids he knew and was family with is beyond me.

I don't know. I kind of like the idea of this guy having to think about his actions for a while before he gets the needle.

Even if he's schizo/manic, he should eventually come down and realize what he did.

It's horrific. I just don't understand how anyone can do that to another human being, especially little kids.


On a side note, I've decided that should I ever be in that situation with an intruder, and they are armed and I am not able to defend myself, no way am I being tied up and shot execution style. I'm not getting in a vehicle with anyone, I'm not getting tied up, none of that. You'll have to shoot me while I'm still on my feet while I'm coming after you. If I'm going to die, it ain't going to be like that.

So this family was nothing more than an innocent collateral damage?

Am I understanding this correctly. The dudes ex-wife's family is related to family that was shot somehow....thats it? They are loosely related?

An absolutely terrible situation. Thoughts & Prayers are with the family.

An outstanding job done by the little girl who gave the info to deputies to intercept the suspect. And an amazing job done by Harris County Sheriff's Office and Pct 4 Constables in preventing further bloodshed. I've been on scenes and seen small children executed, it's not something you can shake off lightly.

The mother was his ex-wife's sister. He was their uncle by marriage.

I never understood how you have a standoff with a POS like this when they're threatening to kill themselves. Call his bluff. He makes a move to shoot you, light him up. He offs himself? Great. He drops it and gets arrest? Fry his ass.

Awful situation. Seeing their picture I just can't fathom how you look at those children and pull the trigger.

He didn't look at those kids. He put them all face down - according to the PC statement. This story turns my stomach.

Going to get to drive right by there on the way home from work today.

I don't looking at the back of their heads and doing it.

this is such an incredibly tragic and sad situation. the heartbreak you feel for that little girl that survived.

Just found out new information on the suspected shooter: We found out from police in California that the guy apparently attacked his own mom last week, duct taping her to a chair and choking her until she passed out -- all because she talked to his ex-wife. She was in the chair for 4 hours.

I think we can go ahead and assume he is the shooter at this point.

Heard that the girl has been upgraded from critical.

Diggity, I can't refer to him that way. He's not convicted. It opens up to libel. And, people on this board know what I do. So, if y'all want to refer to him as the shooter, that's up to you. But, I have to continue to refer to him as suspected shooter.

Now, after a conviction -- the libel isn't a threat anymore.
