most of the mighty mule reviews i've heard are pretty poor. i'm sure there are plenty of situations where they have worked fine, but the prevailing sentiment seems to be to the contrary.

I have had excellent luck with them. I run them on solar with two batteries and two solar panels.

Summit Fence...installed automated gate for my house as well as both neighbors. No issues to report they build them very well with a stout square beam (6"x3/8" wt) for the primary load bearing member.

There isn't a one size fits all for driveway gates. Do you want an gate operator? Do you want it to slide or swing? How wide is your driveway? How many times will it open per day? Is there a power source near by that you can easily access or should it be a run by a solar recharged battery? Do you need a single swing gate or a double? The weight and length of your gate are a big factor as well when determining what kind of operator to use.

Anyone can build you a gate. Drive around and find one you like. Take a picture of it and show it to your contractor.

Cost for my gate was $5k. 10 ft wide driveway, swing gate with lift master operator. I ran underground electrical to the box myself.

I used Atlas three years ago.
Had an issue with the opener (US Automatic) that the manufacturer wouldn't cover and they did me a solid.

cab, you ever get hooked up? I'm in the market.

My gate was installed with some fancy Italian-made motor. DO NOT go with a fancy, Italian-made motor. It's hard to find people to service it and even harder to find parts.
