I'm looking for any recommendations for a credit union in Houston. I mainly just want to have the option to get a good car loan when it comes time to buy a car, so something with good rates and convenient location(s) helps. Any suggestions?

Smart Financial Credit Union has been good to me. Just got. 60 month car loan for 1.99% but it took a little work.

We've used First Community CU since we moved to Houston from CS last year. Was with Wells Fargo and not making crap on our interest, they have very good interest rates provided you qualify (easy to do, I think like 2 direct deposits/mo, 25 debit transactions, and so much money in the acct (like $1000 or something).

However, we did get our home loan through Jay at AgRewards, had better rates. No experience with auto loans. Customer service has been good so far.

Only stupid thing is they make your funds unavailable once deposited for the first 60 days or something ridiculous unless it's a direct deposit. I guess making sure you're not money laundering or something. But stupid it's that long.

Stay far away from Primeway. Aggieland is great.

I still have Aggieland CU. Now with their mobile app I have no reason to ever switch.
