I don't really remember the Oiler days, but I loved that logo/color scheme and wished we still had it

who was the guy who ran on to the field to get the kicking tee and then would sprint back to the sideline?

That would be equipment manager Bill (Mojo) Lackey.

Does anyone know how Cleveland was able to keep the Browns name but we weren't able to do the same? It seems like a sad day when Cleveland does something better than you.

I really want the Oilers name and logo back. The Texans name, logos, and colors reek of unoriginality and laziness.

I wasn't a big fan of the name "Texans" but I do think the logo is well done.

I would have preferred to keep the Oilers name however it isn't the same team so I'm okay with that.

Depends entirely on the organization. When the Colts left, they took everything with them. History, name, everything. Baltimore was in the same situation as ours until they took the Browns from Cleveland. In turn, they let go of the history and name, and let Cleveland have it.

The Lakers kept everything from Minneapolis way back when. The Thunder decided to let Seattle keep any remnants of the Sonics, in the event they get another team. Word is, Charlotte might want the Hornets names and logos back too, since New Orleans are now the pelicans. Just depends on what the owners want to do.

Bud Adams knew we could potentially have another team, and just kept the name and history out of spite. I dont think we could bring back the Oilers even if we wanted to, since the Titans own the history.

He shouldn't live much longer although I wonder if there would be any interest at that point.

I wonder how much Oiler merchandise still sells and if that would be a hang up should conversations ever take place after Bud kicks it.

Absolutely zero chance Bob changes the name back even if he could. he created the texans brand in Houston and won't change it. Nor do I believe he should even though I love the oilers and am a BIG fan of teams names representing their city

I doubt Bob McNair would have any interest in changing the name of the Texans. Although success on the field has been limited, the brand is doing very well.

The joke would be on all of the Vatos that have Texans tatoos if the team changed back to the oilers.

I hated Bud Adams, hated the ****goty Columbia Blue uniforms, but mostly hated how they constantly choked. The belly flop against Buffalo with Warren Moon turned me off for good.

Might still be nice to have it for throwback purposes. The Jets and Chiefs have done throwbacks to their former names (Titans and Texans). It would be a good way to test the waters.

Nostalgically I'd love to see the Texans switched to the Oilers but know it would never happen.

However, I'd love to see the Texans get the rights or whatever it is to the Houston Oilers era.

The is no way in hell Earl Campbel's professional football career belongs to the city of Nashville. It belongs to Houston. Much like Johnny Unitas is a Baltimore and not Indianopolis legend.
