I'm looking for clawhammer banjo lessons here in Houston. I bought a banjo a couple of years ago and began teaching myself to play with some books/CDs/youtube videos. However, I just don't have the willpower to keep going without a real person holding me accountable.

Anybody know of any banjo teachers in Houston or someone who may be able to point me in the right direction?

I think there's a club in the houston area, actually.

I play Scruggs style. The link on the earlier post is Tony Ullrich ...... I doubt Tony will teach claw hammer. I know someone up near Bryan that might. You also might try Kerry jones down around Alvin

I suggest you get Tony to teach you Scruggs style. Great guy... You'll learn fast if you practice.

Here's the plan: You get fat and grow a beard. I will lose most of my teeth and learn to catch animals with my bare hands. Together, we will ride in a small import truck with a sheep herding dog helping out folks along the countryside with their infestations.
