Our daughter has her third birthday coming up in mid May. We'd like to give her a party somewhere indoors (ideally), but we're on a budget right now. Does anyone know of a decent commercial place around east Cypress where kids and their parents could have fun for a modest price?

We'd still be talking a Saturday or Sunday at the normal party hours. Pizza, cake, the usual.

The best we've seen so far is 2 hours at a jumper place for ~$250 without food. Maybe that's good, but I thought I'd appeal to the parents out there before we book anything.

Thanks in advance!

There is a monkey business (inflatible jumper place) on the beltway just north of 290, but I don't know what it costs.

After checking around all the places in The Woodlands, $250 is about the lowest I could find around here. Talking to friends in other areas of town that seemed like a pretty consistent price point. We decided to have my daughter's 3rd birthday at WonderWild and it's $322 and includes pizza, juice boxes and balloons for 20 kids. Last year we had it at one of the splash pads for next to nothing, but it was already brutally hot by the end of April. We decided it was worth the money to have it somewhere indoors this year.

In my experience the backyard and a wide open garden hose makes 3 year olds ecstatic.

Aren't that age kid's parties really for the grown ups?

We had our son's 4th at Monkey Bizness, the kids love it but for $250 or so you dont get much time. We got 1 hour of play time and only 30 minutes in the party room. We had time to serve pizza and cake but not to open gifts.

I appreciate your input. My wife is checking out some of your suggestions. We've done the hot, outdoor parties at playgrounds before and we thought we'd take it easy on the parents this year. I do agree that 3 year olds can be happy doing just about anything.

We've been to parties at Cypress gymnastics and the kids have had lots of fun every time. Not sure of the costs, but I'd imagine it'd be less than wonderwild, pump it up, etc.

Cypress Acadeny on Huffmeister
It's $250 or $275
10 kids get to play for 1 hour; 30 minutes for cake, any time left after cake, they can play again.

I've been to several parties there. Kids LOVE it.

I don't like the open concet at the Monkey Joe's on 529 near Hwy 6. Monkey Bizness on BW8 near west has a good set-up with each party getting its own room.

Cosmic Jump on Jones. My daughter will be turning 4 there in June. It will be our third birthday party there this year.

We did one at the Little Gym when we lived over on that side of town.

After years of paying out the nose for those places (cost over $500 for Monkey Joes last year for all the kids who showed) I finally put my foot down and we had our last one at Bear Creek Park for "free". I think she still spent $300 on decorations, cake, chik fil a trays, snacks, treats, etc.

What happened to just having some friends over to play and maybe pizza and ice cream?

I am a big fan of Dear Abby's rule of thumb for kids birthday parties.

# of guests = age of child + 1

20 guests for a 3 yr old is overwhelming.
