One year anniversary coming up and am trying to plan a nice dinner out. What is your recommendation? If you suggest somewhere other than the places I listed let me know.

Thanks, any ideas are appreciated!

Get Taste of Texas out of that group would be the first thing to do.

Agreed on ToT being in a lesser category.

Can't go wrong with either, but I'd say that Brenners being a slightly better place for an anniversary dinner. Pappas Bros is great for a guys night or if both of you really want a great steak, but Brenners has a little more variety if she's not in the mood for a nice piece of meat that night.

Out of your list, Brenner's.

I would suggest Fleming's. Make a reservation, then get there early enough to hit up their happy hour (food/drink) at the bar. Seriously.

Nothing says romantic evening like having your wife gorge on steak before tube steak. Bloated feeeling always mixes well with sexytime.

Despite the banter and dogging of ToT on this board, there is absoulely nothing wrong with it.

But, it doesn't fit the "romantic dinner" category either.

Brenners v. Pappas - flip a coin, you can't go wrong with either one.

Marks for the romance and quality.

Pappas from your list but it's close Brenners.

Pappas FTW.

You should also consider Brennans, not Brenners.

Pappas is probably the best steakhouse in Houston, but Brenners is not far behind it. ToT is decent but not in that catagory. I agree that Brenners is probably a better atmosphere for an anniversary and they have a little more selection. Give Brenners a shot.

Pappa's out of that list.

Vic and Anthony's is my favorite in town.

Taste of Texas is not good unless you enjoy waiting 2 hours for a bad steak Then it is perfect.

I am convinced that Jesus Christ is already back on Earth but before he could get started with the whole Rapture thing was hired by Pappas Steakhouse and currently slaves away slinging meat and making Au Gratin potatoes.

If you want to spend a decent amount on some good food, do yourself a favor and go to Pappas!

How is ToT even on this list?

The fake flowers everywhere, the horrible room temp salad bar, no reservations allowed, and OTL. Not good.

I got engaged at Brenner's back in June. That worked well. I might go so far as to say Pappa's is a better steak, but both Brenner's locations have unique locations. Pappa's being on Westheimer doesn't have that "get away" feeling. All three places have occassions that they are well suited for, I just think Brenner's is better for the more intimate dinner.

Wherever you go, mention that it's an anniversary dinner when you make the reservation. They may throw in a little something extra. I know Flemings does, probably the others.

I have no idea why The Palm is never mentioned on these threads. Killer steaks, whole lobsters, creamed spinach. Can't go wrong.

I would go with Pappas on your list but prefer The Palm personally.

Been to all 3 listed. I like Flemings a lot more for a date than those listed.

I've been to all 3 and like them all for different reasons. As mentioned, TOT is not exactly in the same category, but is a step down in price point. Good value for the whole production. Heck, some of our work guys from out of town that hit some serious dining in big cities like TOT with nice, casual feel and "Texas" decor and the food is pretty good.

I typically think Landry's restaurants suck, but Tillman has a great thing with Brenners and is the choice for most romantic.

Pappas is just all around great.

My wife and I have reservation for Flemings for date night tonight which we both like for its quality, balance of nice, but not stuffy atmosphere and for us - location.

Can't go wrong with Brenners or Pappas, pappas is more of mad men era steak house though. Both delicious.

TexAgs food snobs are out in force here.

We typically eat at Taste of Texas on our anniversary. We have never had a bad steak there. We've eaten at Pappa's as well, and yeah, that was a damn fine steak too.

TOT is good and the Katy people love it. My family has been there 50 times and my parents at least another 100. Consistent steak and service.

That said I go to Pappas when I have a choice.

I 2nd Flemmings. You can get a better steak at a handful of places, but Flemmings has consistently provided an excellent dining experience every single time I have been. I never really remember any one thing on the menu as being exceptional, but I always remember enjoying everything I had. Even during restaurant week the service was great, which is impressive.

For my anniversary this year I decided to go to Americas for a change of pace. They @$#&ed up and displayed such a lack of any interest in their customers that I will never set foot in any of Michael Corduas restaurant again. (except to pick up food to go) The fact I got an email a day or so later announcing he was "Aggie of the week" was even more irritating. Olive Garden franchises do a better job of pretending they care than Corduas hack management team.

The point is, if I had just stuck with Flemmings we would have had an excellent evening. We decided to step out and try something with a little more flair, had a terrible evening, and now I have a personal vendetta against Michael Cordua. Don't develop a personal vendetta against a fellow Aggie, eat at Flemmings.
