Anyone know of any good fishing spots ITL?

I can't remember if it was here, or 2coolfishing, or one of the other sites I get on, but there was/is a you fly fishing enthusiast who fishes Buffalo Bayou regularly. Catches all kinds of stuff, and had a fly fishing world record or state record or something for some sort of aquarium species he caught in te bayou.

I also had a stone mason on a job once who was staying in a hotel at Crosstimbers/45 (real Inc place I know) and was a big bass fisherman. He saw all kinds of surface action behind his hotel in Buffalo Bayou, threw a line, says he caught a 5+lb bass. Also said he used to fish back there regularly after that and caught a lot of fish.

Don't know of any other option besides maybe a golf course or neighborhood pond, but they don't usually take too kindly to outsiders fishing their ponds.

Close enough. Guess it was here. Did he catch it fly fishing?

All those bayous have plenty of native and invasive exotic fish. I probably wouldn't eat em very often, but catching them is still fun. The problem is getting access to the water, but road right of ways at bridges, parks, and such will work.

colley - in that neighborhood, your friend was probably fishing Little White Oak Bayou.
I saw a dude spear fishing in Brays Bayou near medical center & got a big carp or something. I've seen fisherman pretty much on all the bayous hanging out under bridges.
The lake in Hermann Park is open for fishing, stocked regularly I believe.

I've fished the lake outside the zoo many times and have never been asked to leave or prove my age. My favorite urban fishing spot is OTL, just south of Memorial City Mall, Sandalwood.

I forget the name but the ponds behind Walmart off 610 & S. Post Oak are good.

There's a billion carp in Brays...stunning number of 'em in schools.

Try bowfishing the concrete "shallows".

Eat nothing.

I usually express my second amendment rights by using hand grenades.

I know it is not expressly 'ITL' but just west of Kirby and south of the 610 feeder lanes there are some ponds behind the Social Security Admin buildings.

Diddo...

We caught hundreds of nice sized bass out of those lakes during my school summers. We made it pretty much an every Sunday excursion to head over and fish then finish it up with a nice dip in the swimming lake back there...All the while never getting questioned.

Since y'all have posted that Memorial City location would you mind being more precise? I can't see where you're talking about on the map.

Another place I hit regularly is OTL but really good- White Oak Bayou near Inwood Forest. Basically Fairbanks-N Houston east to Victory.

The cul-de-sac right there at the end of Hibury Dr.

I used to live south of there a few miles closer to Tidwell or Pinemont and it was becoming a war zone about the time we moved. You ever been jacked while fishing?

Nah, Alison & Ike caused a lot of the areas immediately adjacent to the bayou to be condemned and bought out by FEMA so there's little right next to the place.

Also, those Sandalwood ponds- is there room to flyfish?
