I work right beside the Goode Co on 290. I walk and grab a burger there at least once a week. I'll talk to them tomorrow and make sure they've got their number 1 guy on the grill because the grilled onions on the burger are make-or-break. If they're not chopped up and it doesn't take at least 10 minutes then they're just not doing it right, and that happens sometimes.

I have been wanting this for a while. This stinks though because I just found out and I have another commitment tomorrow night. I would also be like to assist by being on the board or something to help out. I currently live in Fairfield so if there is anything I can do just PM me. Thanks.

Fantastic thread...I'm in Bridgeland (The Cove...since there were some other Bridgeland folks on here) and this place is swarming with Ags.

I'll be there. I literally live less than 10 minutes from Goode Co. and would love to have an Aggie Club in Cypress. There is little chance that I will ever make it to events in downtown Houston, but would make it a priority if they were in Cypress! I'd also be willing to serve in any needed position.

As for Bridgeland, the sales team calls our subsection Aggielit Haven. Literally a third of the homes are owned by Aggies. .

When we move on to the planning event stage (probably after we receive approval from the Assosication) I'm sure we will keep in mind both "adult" and "family friendly" events.

I'm closing on a new Fairfeild house and in the middle of a move (can't be there today/night), but I'm definately interested.

We're in the middle of planting a new church in Cypress and have completed some research on the population of this area recently. I was told that if the Cy-Fair ISD were to be incorporated into a city it would rank as the 11th largest in the United States. Show this to the powers-that-be and let them explain why we shouldn't have a Cypree Club. This should happen.

Hell, CFISD is well over 100,000 KIDS.

Close, but not quite.

Based on wikipedia, CF-Fair ISD is 188 sq mi which would make it the 44th largest city in the country by size, just between Goodyear, AZ and Albuquerque.

According to the last Census data the 10 Zipcodes that make up CyFair ISD have a population of

587,142

This is larger than Las Vegas, NV, Portland, OR, Atlanta, GA, Kansas City, MO, Miami, FL, Cleavland, OH

The issue is simple CyFair is growing like wild fire. The Houston A&M Club although it is a fantastic organization it will not be able to keep up with our rapid growth.

Again to reiterate. The intent of a freestanding CyFair A&M Club is not in any way to compete compete with other clubs in the Houston Area. I would encourage all members of the CyFair A&M Clubs to participate in events with other clubs for Aggies at the Astros events, Golf Tournaments, etc. Every effort would be made to ensure that events do not conflict. The intent is to get Former Students involved and active in our community.

Don't tell AFS you held the meeting at a place with a Houston address when you send it in. J?K.

I like the lunch idea as well. More managable for me.

If AFS won't approve it can't there be an unaffiliated Cypress club?

I've lived here 16 years and am as Aggie as they get. I've never once gone to or considered going to a Houston Aggie Club function. It's just not convenient.

There are 6 A&M Clubs in the Houston Area.

Howdy Club exists completely independent of the Houston Club. We can make something happen, for sure.

I would rather have this sanctioned but lets see where the process goes...

Either way our mission is simple.

Promote Texas A&M University and exemplify what the Aggie Spirit means through fellowship and service.

I agree, Andrew. Going "rogue" as an unsanctioned group should be the VERY LAST option we choose. I really believe that if there is any potential conflict, we can resolve it with the Houston Club/Association.

With 6 sanctioned clubs in the Houston area, there is no reason we can't exist as well.

We need to send a clear and decisive message to the AFS that the CyFair A&M Club is not only viable but also that we are serous about this!

We're in . . . the Houston Club meetings i used to go to when i lived on the loop were way too big.

We tried to start a Cy-Fair Aggie club a few years ago and ran into the same hurdles . . . i'll try and make it to sign up.

I'd love to attend but not able to tonight. In the future yes. Cy Fair High School was known as "little A&M" back in the 30's & 40's just as an fyi..

Fairfield resident and Cy Fair grad, so I'd love to see one started here. If signatures are needed and another meeting is planned I'll make sure to try and be there.
