I enjoy the thai place on Sawdust that used to be called Thai Ocha. Not as good as a few places in town but pretty damn good and BYOB.

Grimaldis was great the only time I've been.

Man , really going to have to give Gramaldi's another try , just tried from street side once , not core of resturant - Where is the 19th hole ? - Forgot about the Woodland's Wings-N-More , very A&M friendly of course , great place to go anytime , but also to catch A&M sports or just early on game day when camping out at house watching a bunch of games on a college football Saturday !

19th hole is behind the HEB on Rayford and 45. It is a dump of a place but they have great wings and on Thursday they are 15¢. At least they were the least time I went.

Grimaldis is good, but they are a little proud of themselves. When I asked for ranch dressing for my pizza, they looked at me like I'm one of those people who drive around with truck balls hanging from my vehicle (I just bring my own now - ranch dressing..not truck balls . They also don't let you divide up toppings by halves... if you ask for a topping it comes on the the whole thing. With all that said, it is a great pizza.

I agree with some of the other posters about Wings & More on 242. There food is better than most of the others in that chain (the ones with the different owners), and their margaritas are VERY good. I went there this week for the first time in about 12-18 months. I quit going because their TVs were terrible. I was glad to see that they've upgraded all of them.

we've gotten half toppings on pizzas at grimaldi's before.

also, i don't know if they even have ranch. their salads are very specific.

schmendeler - Oh, they'll do half toppings, but they charge you the full amount. So if I wanted half pepperoni & onions and half sausage & green peppers, I'd be paying for 4 toppings. At least that has always been the case with us.

You're right about the ranch dressing. They don't carry it. What kind of pizza place doesn't have ranch?

i see. we've never just gotten a half topping. we always got half of one and half of another. they just charged us for one topping.

i like ranch on pizza, but i've never missed it at grimaldi's.

Not sure if it's there still, but just on the other side of 45, near the exit for Woodlands Pkwy, there is a place called Boulevard. Go there if you want to see affliction/tap out wearing PSB's in their natural habitat.

Closed a year or so ago. Nothing in that development has made it. Jack's Place opened in the Sam's Boat location and only last a couple months

I knew Jacks Place was doomed. Sam's Boat is an established, successful franchise and didn't make it there. No way Jacks Place was going to make it.

That location is terrible. Its hard to get to. If I'm coming from Lake Woodlands, I have to go all the way down to Sawdust and back up the freeway to get there. No thanks, ill just stop at Market Street or Waterway.

For something to make it there, it has to have a big draw and be worth driving for. Like a Twin Peaks or something.

Yeah, it's a terrible location for anyone coming from north of Rayford/Sawdust. We went a couple times to Sam's Boat, but with the PITA of getting there it didn't make the normal rotation. Even the BMW motorcycle dealership didn't make it.

We love Tommy Bahama's happy hour.

This!

My new favorite restaurant is Via Emilia. Way better than Aldos, La Trattoria, Pallotas, Luca & Leonardo and the chains. I dine too often at Kirby's, Perry's, Flemming's to select a favorite among those.

The other problem with Sam's boat is the Shenandoah and Oak Ridge police departments. Pulling everyone over around there.

I wasn't a big fan. Maybe I just went on a bad day??

I've yet to find a really good burger in this area. However Stadia Bar and Grill over in Market Street has $5 Burger Baskets on Tuesday. They are pretty good. Especially for the price.

3Bs is good but it smells like nail polish chemicals because of the nail shop in the same center. They need better ventilation or something. I don't like eating there because of it.

I think there are lots of good burgers in The Woods. I have a hard time deciding where to go when I want a burger. Coal Burger, Becks Prime, Fuddruckers, Culvers, Skeeters, The Counter, Whataburger.

We do lack the good, dirty bar burger though. 3Bs is that "style".

For best burger , Beck's hard to beat - But for absolute best burger , go to The Kitchen on Research , it's Hudson and Hubbell owned - You can build your own burger with great ingredients - If it's not the best burger EVAR , it's your own fault !

Never had one from the Kitchen, but I bought some "cowboy" burger patties from the butcher. They were delish!

Wasn't impressed at all with the h&h kitchen. I've honestly not had a great burger in the woodlands. Was disappointed with coal burger. I've had beck's in the loop and think its overpriced. Also had the counter off of Washington. No reason to go back. Culver's is ok for fast food, I guess. Never heard of 3B's.

It is on Rayford, east of 45 in a strip center before the RR tracks. It's excellent at least 90% of the time

Outside the back edge of the woodlands is a good burger place on 2978. JAX burgers.

Good Mexican food around the corner at 7 Leguas

I guess both of those are technically Magnolia.

Tewbeleaux has some pretty good food. I like their burgers also, they have one on jalapeno cheese bread with a fried egg on top. A fat mans dream.

JAX burgers are good, but their cheese fries are the real draw for me. El Chaparro on 1488 is the best Mexican food in Magnolia.

I love this thread.

I'll throw Crust Pizza (Panther Creek) in with Grimaldi's/BJ's/Brothers for a good pizza place.

Both H&H places are at the top of our list, the almond croissant at the Kitchen is crazy good.

Some of our other favorites (these are all over the map) - Lupes (miss the sand box, but it's WAY better than Chuys I think), Eden Cafe, Honey Bee, Tommy Bahama, Flemings.

We've also been frequenting Zoe's Kitchen a lot - it's really close to our house, and a great place to get a quick/fresh/relatively healthy meal for the fam. Also - their chocolate chip cookie may be the best ever.

Will definitely have to try Via Emilia - it's got to be less than a mile away from us. The restaurant that was there before sucked big time, so we haven't even tried it.
