Brewery Tap, La Carafe, Char Bar, Warren's, Market Square Bar & Grill, Noutsoh, Dean's, State Bar, Shay McElroy's, Molly's, Sunny's, Flying Saucer, Reserve 101, Dirt Bar, MKT Bar @ Phonecia

That would be a good start working from the NW side of downtown toward the SE. Most are low key and a few have live music most nights.

I actually find Flying Saucer the least interesting of the downtown bars. Most of the others have their own charms and eccentricities that the FS lacks (but it is a great beer selection).

edited again to add Dirt Bar. How could I forget that cool joint?

There are a lot more cool places downtown than most people realize until they list them all out. For more upscale, most of the hotels and steakhouses have nice bars also.. The bar atop the Hilton Americas has probably the best views in the city if you are looking for more romantic type places.

Forgot to mention The Capitol. Great new live music/supper club style bar right around the corner from the FS.

Been meaning to check it out since it opened. Haven't had the chance to.

Hearsay is next to La Carafe and makes a pretty good cocktail if interested in old timey mixed drinks.

Ha! I should have known that a downtown drinking thread would bring Rugbyman out of hiding.

Doubt we'll head over to Midtown this go around. Looking to head to some decent places that are a bit classier. Thinking single malt scotches, martinis, etc... (and yes, we frequent Downing Street Pub for our scotch fix).

Then Hearsay and Reserve 101 are probably right up your alley. Those two are spaced a ways from each other, but both are great whiskey/mixology bars. Char Bar is also worth a look for staying a little classier downtown. Warren's is worth a stop too just for stupidly strong mixed drinks like old fashioneds, but it's pretty old school and the clientele is... hmm, how do put this? a little different. A lot of the others I listed are all very interesting and worth a look, but some may be a little "diveish" if you are looking for "classier". If that's what you want, may throw in the Line and Lariat Bar at Hotel Icon, and the bar at The Lancaster Hotel is pretty old school cocktail oriented.

a "classy, downtown, bar crawl"?

Sounds interesting...or possibly terrible.

Sunny's is money. Like you're on Bourbon St.

Awesome suggestions. Any suggestions as well for somewhere worth eating down there?

Mia Bella is one of my favorite restaurants downtown. Great food at a reasonable price. There are 2 of them downtown. I prefer the smaller original location on Main, but the food is the same at the Pavilions location.

turns out tomorrow is Reserve 101's 4 year anniversary party. They'll have some live music and drink specials all night.

Avoid Reserve 101. That place is a waste of money and time. Their management is worthless.

A great downtown pub crawl should end up at the Lonestar Saloon. Just make sure you have a hepatitis shot before you walk in.
