I had always heard good things about this place but the BBQ was not very good at all when we went there a few months ago. GF is Korean and agreed. The soup was extremely bland too. I guess there is a reason her parents quit going a while back. Part of me wants to give it another chance and chalk it up as an "off night" b/c it has been there forever and has always recieved positive reviews.

Much in the same way the Texas BBQ scene is suprisingly bad in this town, the good Korean BBQ is lacking compared to other major cities like LA and even Austin. I have yet to find a place in town as good as Korea House in Austin or the little dive in LA's Korea Town i tried a while back.

I may get flamed for this, but i really enjoy the Galbi at Kobecue in Greenway. I see quite a few asians dining in each time I go as well. Only difference is they dont serve it with all the sides you get in a traditional restaurant.

Your friend must have been Vietnamese. I'm pretty sure that is how most Asians view the Vietnamese...as more blue colllared and uneducated. Koreans probably have the highest income per capita out of all the groups of Asians. Would love to see you try to make a similar post aimed at blacks or latinos but you won't.

to be fair, Mexicans are a strong mid-major in the Latino conference hierarchy, I believe Nicaraguans and Hondurans are faaaar lower than they are, but I could be wrong.

Asians:

Cambodians are the bottom. South Koreans are a notch below Taiwanese Chinese.


Hispanics:

Puerto Ricans are at the bottom of the caucasian hispanics. Below them are the non-caucasians of Central American, Dominicans, then Haitians.

Seriously though, I would recommend Kobecue on Richmond in the Greenway area if you are ever around. The Bulgogi bowls are good but nothing special, but I was surprised by the quality of the BBQ plate (short ribs). Unless it has changed in the last month or so, it is cheap, and better quality and quantity than I have had at some of the more expensive, traditional places.
