anyone thinking about hitting this place up besides me..

i have been to the twisted root burger joint in dallas and had a kangaroo burger (it was good).. interested in trying the yak and another kangaroo burger

Sammy's is good. Perfect right now since Moontower is closed for the moment. If you want to step it up, Rainbow Lodge is good choice.

Been meaning to check that place out for a while.

Does anyone know where you can get rattlesnake in Houston ?

I have been meaning to check this place out. It's obviously no Rainbow Lodge as far as price, ambiance, etc, so I was curious; do you sit down and order or is it one of these places where you walk up and order and wait for your food?

ever had an ostrich burger?

no.. but wasnt that suppposed to be a big thing about 10 years ago?? it was either ostrich or emu.. one of those were supposed to be the new go to meat

PO's on Telge had ostrich and buffalo burgers. Excellent greasy spoon.

I ate at sammies the first weekend it opened. Pretty good. Tastes like game. Nice pretzel bun for the burgers. I want to go back and try the pheasant dog.

Been once, had the Kangaroo burger. Not bad, but a little gamey. Granted, I really didn't add much to it, wanted to get the true flavor.

Also had the chili cheese fries, which was really good, but they had run out of rattlesnake so made the chili with elk. Really want to try it again with the rattlesnake.

They didn't have ostrich or yak when I went, but have been told they got ostrich back in stock, no word on yak.

Had a buddy growing up who's dad raised emu's when they were suppose to be the new go to meat, etc. Things were mean as hell.

Sammy's is solid. I have tried the pheasant and buffalo dogs and they did not disappoint. They could stand to offer a few more toppings options to add to their menu, but the pretzel buns are money and so is the ghost chili spread.

As mentioned, the restaurant is located in an awkward area, which is difficult to get to by some standards and even more difficult to locate parking. I would suggest the drive-thru.
