Guadalajara shouldn't even be in the conversation. Place is garbage.

I've become a fan of Sylvia's fajitas recently. Guadalajara isn't bad but isn't great IMO.

I think Irma's is great. But like was said earlier I don't get fajitas there I let Irma fix me whatever she suggests. Often it is mole enchiladas which are the tits!!!

Both are good but I prefer Pappasitos. Alot of the food on Cyclones menu is too rich/creamy for me.

Ninfas Green Sauce (El Tiempo Runner-up)
Cyclone's Red Sauce (not even close)
Cyclone's Quesadillas (not even close)
Pappasitos Fajitas (Lupe's beef is runner up, but it is does have a lot of lime)
Best Budget Tex-Mex = Cadillac Bar (also has good green sauce). And there is never a wait.

Not sure who has the best ritas. I guess anyone who sells them for less than $8.00. Hate paying and arm & leg for a house rita.

I'll be hitting up Cyclones esta noche.

Went to Fuddruckers for lunch. Their jalepeno cheese sauce is the tits.

Best 'ritas = Tony's on Ella.

I'll likely be in the minority here, but the 2 best 'ritas in Houston are:

1. Hugo's
2. El Real

I agree that the ritas at hugos are awesome, I just don't really consider hugos texmex.

Either you are confusing Guad with another restaurant, or you haven't a clue what good tex-mex is!

Depends on the Guad, some are actually pretty good and others are total ****.

For my money, Pappasito's has the best fajitas. They seem to have the fattest (as in big) chunks of meat and just the right marinade/seasoning. Mileage may vary of course.

And as far as this little ***** fest I'm gonna go with sitos. I don''t like my mexican food to come with disco music so that's why cyclones gets bumped down but cyclones is not bad. It is over priced though. But I like my mexican food to be cooked by poor ass mexicans that just got out of the back of a semi and does not cost me $20/person.

Hasn't been mentioned yet in this thread, but what is the general consensus on Escalante's? I'm a big fan of it, but does that make me a dumbass gringo who is getting ripped off and doesn't understand good Tex Mex?

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Pappasito's all the way. Guadalajara is not too bad. May depend on which one you go to, though.

Yes to Escalante's excellentness or yes to me being a dumb gringo?

i think Escalantes is sub-par, but then again, im one of the ones that likes Guad... in fact id rather go to Guad over the others mentioned on this thread. suck my balls.

I think the Guad in Memorial is pretty darn tasty.

I can find something I like at just about every Tex-Mex place in town.

Lupes - Poblano chicken
Pappasitos - Beef Fajitas
Vida Loca (Katy) - Beef Fajitas
Chuys - Chicka Chicka Boom Boom or Southwestern Enchiladas
El Real - Cheese enchiladas

At Chuy's I still like the 9-11 plate, although it's off the menu now they will still make it.

This is a quality thread because generally speaking, when you get into Tex-Mex discussions it generally becomes a pissing contest of sorts to think of the nastiest, greasiest, least known places and claiming it's the best when most people deep down know most of those suck.

There are a handful of these places I would eat at before cyclones, pappasitos, El tiempo and chuys.

Los Dos Amigos is the most popular one. I like Spanish Flowers, Tepotitlan, and El Imperial to name a few. I will never say they are the best, but there are definitely things I like on their menu.
Linz02Ag

Spanish Flower is in the normal rotation for us. Even living in The Woodlands we venture off the beaten path to indulge in the greatness of SF's cheese enchiladas with chile con carne
