Going on a dinner date in the area, but I am not familiar with the area. The only place I know of is T-Bone Toms in that area.

I am also considering Gilhooleys

What does texags say?

Ok, there is an Aquarium there AND they have a ferris wheel down on the boardwalk. You can make this work.

There's a surprisingly low number of good "nice" restaurants in Clear Lake, lots of decent food but nothing really nice. If you want to spend a lot you could try Perry's Steakhouse (or Italian if that's your cup of tea), I've heard Cullen's is good as well but haven't been.

A kinda cool out of the way place is Three Oaks Wine Bar in League City, cool atmosphere and everything I've had there has been good but it's more of a light meal place than heavy dinner. There's also a Brazillian steakhouse that isn't bad, kinda a Fogo de Chao lite but the name escapes me.

For steak go with Perry's, Logan’s (for casual), or Chabuca's (Brazilian but not as good as Fogo). For Italian go with Frenchie’s or Villa Capri. Same owner for both restaurants...Frenchie’s seems to have better quality but Villa Capri has lakeside dining. For sushi go with Tokyo Bowl or Masa Sushi. Masa Sushi has two locations, both are about the same. For pizza & a good beer selection go with Boondoggles. They have brick oven pizza and I hear the burgers are good too. For Mexican, there is Mely's on Nasa Rd 1 (excellent Tequila Bar), Durango's (Cochinita Pibil or Spinach Enchiladas rock), San Lorenzo's (locals like it), or Lupe Tortilla. If you want to maximize the chance of panty removal by the end of the night....go with Cullen's.

Chabuccas.

Cullen's is nice. Gilhooley's is a biker bar. Outriggers in Seabrook is good but not all that nice. Masa Sushi at 646 and 45 is good. There was a really good tapas place on 2094, but it may be closd.

I've been once expecting to impressed and I wasn't. And yes, Chabuca's, thanks.

I lived at 518 and 2094 for a year and there are a couple of good places around. There is a nice Tapas restaurant right on the League City/Kemah border...

http://www.latapatapa.com/

I ate there several times and it was good all times.

There is another little Italian bistro type place next to the Randalls that certainly isn't fancy, but it's pretty good. Right across from South Shore Harbor Resort.

For a much much more laid back place with great beer on tap and good bar food, check out the Bayview Duck...

Best little bar on the bay. Just South of Kemah on 146, just past Hwy 96.

Hope this helps.

Is Crazy Cajun still open on Nasa Rd1?

Don't think so, from what I understand the owner's wife/ex-wife took over running the place and without him it kinda lost what it had. Too bad, that was some GOOD food.

The former owner actually catered one of my best friend's rehearsal dinners, he was a good friend of their family. Possibly the best meal I've ever eaten.

I loved eating there in the early and mid 90s. I'd put it on the same level as any cajun joint in Louisiana you could name.

it is no longer there. that was the first place I ever had Frog Legs.

Topwater Grill in San Leon at the south end of the street that Gilhooley's is on. They have a nice outside dining area right on the bay. I'm a fan of both places, but Topwater would be better for a date IMO.

Edit: Correct. Both places are in San Leon. Don't know what I was thinking.

There's a Thai Cottage in Clear Lake. Also I like Carrabba's and Frenchies for Italian. What kind of date is it?

There is also Ichibon in Kemah on 146 and in League City on 270 / Egret Bay.

Skip Kemah and go to the Monument Inn.

there's also a fairly new brazilian steak place on bay area called tradicao...not as good as fogo but definitely a step up from chabuca's.

Thai Cottage is a much much better place to have lunch than dinner, but it's excellent. Lupe Tortilla is probably the best Mexican place, but there are a lot of good ones. If you're looking for a hole in the wall type Mexican restaurant, Durango's is pretty good, and they have cheap margaritas.

Cullen's, Tommy's and any incarnation of Perry's are the nice, expensive restaurants in the area. There's also a Pappas' Seafood on Nasa 1.

Has Cullen's gotten any better since it opened? It was sub par when I went a few years ago.

Some good suggestions here. Tommys is my favorite in Clear Lake but for the best steak in this area Killens in Pearland is the best hands down. Outriggers is not fancy just good seafood.

That statement made me laugh out loud.

Topwater was a great choice. If you get a second date try Signature Bistro or Opus.

I attended a rehearsal dinner at Opus and wasn't impressed. Maybe it's because of the mass quantity of the same thing.

Is Bailey's still open? They used to be decent, but not impressive for the money.

Signature Bistro was amazing until it was sold a few years ago, and they changed the menu and atmosphere and I haven't been back.

Bailey's closed in financial ruin. Left a lot of unpaid unhappy vendors.

888 is good Chinese, Valdo's is a great meal and never crowded. Some of the best seafood around is Seabrook Cafe.

Italian Cafe is nice and you can BYOB.
