Alright, so I have a lot of frozen shrimp and would like to make some po-boys this weekend. In the past I have just gotten french/baguette from grocery stores for these. Is there a place in particular that makes really kick ass french bread for poboys?

A Vietnamese bakery might be your best option.

Second a Vietnamese bakery like Lees or Don cafe. Heck every Asian market will sell it too. Ask for the freshest batch and Probably like 4 12" rolls for $1. Backup plan is the day old .50 per loaf at Jimmy Johns. I think it's 1.50 for their fresh bread.

If you can find a place with Slow Dough's french loaf it is top notch.

Georgia's Farm to Market* carries them.

*on I-10 between just east of Dairy Ashford.

FYI: It is Slow Dough's pretzels that they sell at Saint Arnolds during the Saturday tour.

Jimmy John's is not the way I would go bread-wise for a po boy.

I would try the Vietnamese bakeries suggested.

Kroger sells these bake it yourself baguettes that are the closest to real honest-to-God French bread that I've found anywhere around here. If baked correctly, it's crusty on the outside and soft inside.

Most grocery store "French bread" is nowhere near like the real thing. I love it, and eat more than my share of it, but when ever my French cousins visit, they say that stuff is more like cake than bread.

El Bolio on Airline - pain the rear to get in and out of but their bread is good.

sushi has the right idea.
Any Mexican panaderia (his suggestion of El Bolillo on Airline - there are tons others around town) will have bolillo rolls. Cheap white bread, crusty on outside & soft/gooey on inside, would go good for your sandwiches.
Baked daily on-site at any panaderia.
