I got a ticket for speeding coming into I think it was Bracketville when my husband and I were going to Big Bend in college. It was right where the highway changes from 60 to 45 or something like that. Anyway, the guy clocked me before I even reached the change in speed limit sign, it was BS.
When I called the number on the ticket to find out about doing defensive driving so it wouldn't go on my record the actual JUDGE answered the phone. I was like 19 at the time and it totally freaked me out. He said something like "Why would you want to do defensive driving, that's a waste of time. Why don't you just send in a money order made out to me and it won't go on your record."
I called my grandfather, who used to be HPD, to ask him what he thought of it...he said just keep a record of everything and do what the judge said. It never did go on my record, but I always thought that was kind of shady.
Sorry, I know that is of no help to the original posted...just thought I would share my small town ticket story.
