How long do you want to ignore this user?
We're meeting some friends for dinner next week. We're coming from Clear Lake, they from the outskirts of Katy. We'd like to meet mid-way, probably around West Beltway and Westheimer or thereabouts. Any suggestions for something reasonably-priced in the area? We're not wanting to spend $50 per plate, more in the $30 or less range, preferrably a place with good drinks. Food type is not important, as none of us are picky.

TIA

Go a bit further to the Beltway and I-10. There's a ton of new restaurants at the Town & Country Center/Village (whatever it's called now).

Just inside the beltway at Westheimer

Yao's
Benihana's
Churrasco's

Just outside the Beltway at Westheimer:
Beck's
(There are two restaurants on the left at Westheimer and Wilcrest...the one in the front..I can't remember the name, but it was good food...the other one I did not get to go to but it looked good)
Further down Westheimer between Kirkwood and Dairy Ashford is my favorite Brazilian restaurant (and it is NOT a churrascaria..it is sit down) Emporio do Cafe.
There is a couple of Brasilian Restaurants near Westheimer and Beltway...Pradaria and further down is one that I don't know the name..they changed it from Fuego Vivo...I don't know the name now and they are both churrascarias.
PF Changs is at Westheimer and Kirkwood.

double the thought on Churrasco's on westheimer. great food with choices for all, good place to visit, has a bar if you want to talk before/after. easy to get to from beltway.

Currascos is great but it's going to be kind of tough to get out of there for less than $30 a head if you plan on having drinks, then there's dessert. They do have a great chocolate tres leches.

or go a little further and take bellaire blvd and go to Korea Garden Grille. About a mile and a half west of the beltway. All you can eat Korean food for about $18 a head. and its BYOB.

The place is for real.

chinatown is a good option too. There's safe, big places like Ocean Palace or smaller places that taste better, but...there could be some language issues. Also, there's a good beignet place on Bellaire too.

Good Co. Seafood is overrated.

Go to Denis's Seafood on I10 east between gessner and bunker hill.

One little hoel in the wall that I like is Cafe Pita, off Westheimer heading towards Wilcrest. Nice little joint, very cheap, great food.

Guy Fieri went there on diners, dives, and drive-throughs!

Amazon Grill (Westheimer/Gessner)

CLOSED

Wife and I noticed it about two weeks ago - not sure how long it's been closed.

The Hooters right next door is now closed as well.

True on the Hooters, very sad.

Churrascos (sp?) it the best one so far if you are looking for a little upcsale without breaking the bank. I think you can get most entrees for 20-30 a plate. The fried banana chips are the best pre-dinner snack, and they are complementary!. Dessert is good too.

On the more casual end of things there is a red river cafe in the same shopping center as Chili's and Sherlocks at the Southeast corner of the beltway and westheimer. It seems to have a professional lunch atmosphere, but has casual prices and comfort.

Even more casual is Rajun Cajun (sp?)at gessner & westheimer, but I haven't been there in years.

There are a ridiculous amount of eateries in that area, but I think most the stand out ones have been mentioned. It is good that you are not picky eaters, but a little guidance on what type of restaurant might help narrow it down, that is, if you need more options than what is listed so far.

that hooters blew anyway.

The one in Katy is probably the best.

Ragin Cajun is still open and I love it.

It's usually extremely busy.

Go to philag's favorite restaurant next to Sherlocks. I thinks it's called the Empanada House.

For Persian food go to Kasra at Gessner and Westheimer. (right next to YAO's.)

I agree on Cafe Pita as a hole in the wall (but extremely good) ... not really a great place to meet friends and have a meal.

Brenner's is phenomenal. However, I don't see how you can get out of there at (or under) $30 per person.

I tried Bistro Le Cep on Westheimer & Wilcrest a few month ago, and I was pleasantly surprised.
Not too expensive, not too pretentious French food.
Doesn't look like much, but I'd recommend it for a casual dinner with friends. I'm French btw, so I'm usually very critical of French restaurants.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but I've always had good experiences at J Alexander's...Wilcrest@Westheimer.

We had a real good dinner the one time we tried that Bistro Le Cep too.

HouAg...thanks..that is the name of the restaurant I could not remember in my first post on this thread. Good stuff.
