Girlfriend's birthday and we are going there tomorrow night. What's the attire, and how much should I expect to spend for two? I dont drink, but she does. How is it? Not compared to the Aquarium cuz lets be honest, who can compare to that juggernaut, but how is it compared to the rest of the city? Looks really cool.

It's pretty unique and, surprising, can make you forget that you are right off a couple busy streets. At night, I would suggest a sports jacket-type outfit. The entrees are pretty pricey. Expect to pay upwards of $20 a piece and a good amount for wine or whatever other drinks you want. I'm not a fan of the Aquarium, so I'm probably not the best to compare those. Been about 10 years since I been, but great place for date. Unique.

about 16 years ago, went on a double date there with Mark Murdoch ('88-89 sip QB) and his girlfriend... I think we dropped about $250! never going back!

we went a few months ago. great place.

we had a reservation for 5:45, and i had khakis and a polo on and fit right in. it wasn't busy at the time and was still pretty earlier. any later and i would have worn slacks and a dress shirt.

get the 'taste of the wild' appetizer...you won't regret it.

2nd the taste of the wild appetizer.

We had the buffalo tenderloin and the duck, both were "wildly" delicious.

One of my top favorite restaurants in houston.

You will likely spend a couple hundred if you get an app, salads, meals and she gets a couple drinks.

Things i will recommend...

1 - taste of wild appetizer. do it. period!
2 - The lobster appetizer is also excellent...but is great as a meal
3 - they have ok salads but really nothing to get too excited about. So, you could share a salad after having an appetizer.
4 - the elk and wild boar are my two favorite dishes there. SO good!

she drinks, but you don't?

DWI 2 months ago has helped put my drinking on a temporary hiatus. Especially if I am planning to drive my girlfriend around.

They also have really good fish specials. But, at least one of you has to get a game dish.

I really liked the Elk.

Taste of the wild has good food, but very small portions.

Very nice restaurant, shady location.

It's expensive.

Definitely go outside and check out the grounds, that's the best feature of the place.

Dont hate on the location too much. I only live about 5 seconds from there. It can get a little hairy around some dark corners, but where Rainbow Lodge is actually pretty decent.

Do you eat to live, or live to eat? If it's a great experience & the company's good, it's totally worth it (to me at least).

.. but, I think you can still have a nice dinner at Rainbow Loodge for a lot less than $250. I think we got out of there for $180 last time we went.

I like expensive restaurants.

I don't like paying for it.

Never been to rainbow lodge.
