So my wife emails me from home, saying there was just a message on our answering machine from a 247 area code that said this:

"Sorry for the message but I just wanted to tell you how appreciated you are. For some reason I know you needed to hear this right now"

and then it hung up. Creepy.

Has this happened to anyone else? any ideas on the source? A bunch of fools on the above thread think it is God calling, call me a skeptic, but I am more inclined to believe it is an autodialer calling to verify active phone numbers. I just find it odd that this has apparently been going on for 2+ months, somewhat widespread, and still not much of an explanation can be found.

not surprising with those stupid spammers/auto dialers. it's hard to trace them.

we moved (somewhat) recently and I don't think I ever updated that. But a lot of the people on the above thread said they were on the list.

I got that too. It was an 832 "wireless" call per my caller ID.

Creepy.

yeah, well the list certainly doesn't stop the calls but you could report it if it happens again. i'm sure people already have, it seems to have been happening for awhile.

Why dont you guys get out of the stone age and drop your land lines.

It's not just a land line thing. I'm constantly getting random calls on my cell from all sorts of area codes and unknowns with recordings regarding the warranty on my vehicle and some **** in spanish that I have no clue what is being said.

haha, i only keep mine because we have DSL, and cell phone reception in my house sucks for some reason.

I had the same wrong number person calling me at least twice a month for three years. Apparently "wrong number" meant "call back later" to him.

My old phone # was 1 digit off from a doctor's office, man I'm glad to see that one go. Evidently it was a hood dr. office, everyone who called spoke ghettospeak

The last few days I’ve gotten calls from Spanish automated telemarketer’s (on my cell phone) from area codes 731, 985 and several others. I filed a complaint with the FCC. If enough people complain, hopefully this will stop.

Tell that to my alarm company. I'm not giving Commicast any more money to put my alarm service through them...I can't imagine what would happen if I had an incident and Comcast was in charge of my alarm system...geez.
