Brenners has a location inside the loop now, where Rainbow Lodge used to be on the bayou. Never been to that loc though.

for a celebration dinner, go to V&A or Brenners (location is very pretty)

Pappas is cliche; Taste of Texas is boring with a feel of Golden Corral; and Perry's is underrated. However, not sure how America's has not made this list yet. America's is a great atmosphere and arguably as good as any steak in Houston. Try it.

Love Flemings. Everyime I've been the steak and service has been excellent. I really don't get the love for Ruth's Chris. I don't like my plate to be hotter than the sun.

I've been to Pappas twice since everyone says it is the sheet. I was disappointed both times.

I second Americas being considered.

I strongly disagree on the steak point. It is great food, but their steak doesn't compare to the top tier steak houses.

However, if you are doing a group thing, Americas has a great atmosphere.

Brenners was really good the last time i went.

Again, I wasn't upset with the food at all. However, next time I want a nice steak dinner, I'd much rather spend the same money at V&A, Flemings, or one of the other places.

Pappa's is cliche? What the hell does that mean? Assuming I knew what the hell that meant, who cares? So, one shouldn't go to a restaurant that serves great food because it's cliche? Whatever dude.

I went to Perry's last year and it was no better than Morton's which is horrible. There's nothing worse than walking into a "steakhouse" and feeling like you're in the lobby of a fancy hotel. The two should NEVER mix. BTW, steakhouses shouldn't have salad bars.

ToT is a really good steak. While I don't put it in the same echelon as Pappas, Fleming's, etc, to compare it to Texas Roadhouse and Saltgrass completely invalidates any opinion you have on any subject ever brought up on the Houston board.

To answer the OP, Golden Corral can't be beat.

If you want atmosphere for a celebration type dinner I would go with Strip House. The food is great too!

Plus there are boob pictures all over the walls.

Better cross V&A off your list too. Not only does Tillman own it...but he developed it from scratch and named it after family members.

I honestly don't understand what some have against the man.

Sure, he owns some crappy restaurants, but he's also got some solid ones.

I'll let my taste buds decide until I have damning evidence that I should think otherwise.

I think most of the hate is from his influence/takeover of Kemah, maybe Galveston, and of course...developing the legendary Aquariums.

My opinion of Tillman stems from his political contributions and where they go. Not so much about his desire to make everything he owns an amusement park.

My guess is that it doesn't change the way the food tastes.

No it doesn't, but I don't want to contribute to that.
