Looking for recommendations for a nice hotel inside the loop or the galleria area. I did a search and came up with several threads on the restaurants, but none on the actual hotels.

I am looking for a nice place to stay for just 1 night. I found a website that listed Hotel Icon, The Houstonian, Hotel Derek and a few others, but was curious to get the opinions of texags. Any other hotels to add to the list? What is your favorite etc.

we stayed at hotel ICON a few weeks ago and loved it! Its downtown, but right along main street with access to all the downtown stuff.

icon, magnolia, zaza, derek, inn at the ballpark (i didn't mind it too much), lancaster

were staying at the inn at the ballpark after the company christmas party this year. figured its worth a whirl.

I highly recommend Hotel Icon.

Stop by Char Bar around the corner from it (on Market Square) and tell the owner, Mike Schwartz, that Kelli's friend kip said hi.

My GF says this is a great hotel.

Only one I've stayed at is Hotel Intercontinental, and I would highly recommend it

I would go Icon for downtown, and Derek for Galleria.

We've stayed at the St Regis a couple times. It's nice, but more like "old and nice". It depends on if you want something a little more modern, or something classic.

I would back what Clearman said. I work for one of the hotels mentioned in this thread, and have been to them all.

We put some friends up in the Derek a while back and boy was the hotel ready for them to leave. Imagine the Clampits in a suite.

The Derek is a solid choice. Wife and I stayed there last year for an office x-mas party and we very happy with the accomodations.

I usually take Nerve's wife to the Derek also…..I would recommend it as well.

I want to stay at the zaza

I want to stay at the icon and the zaza.

I can't recommend the Magnolia enough - we've stayed there twice and have been really impressed. Look at their specials - some good packages with dinner, drinks, other.

I have also stayed at the Lancaster and it is quite charming if you like the antique feeling.

Downtown --> ICON, no question. The 3 story penthouse is the freakin bomb! We had it our wedding night, after having our wedding recep at ICON
