what is your opinion on the best first date restaurant in Dallas - uptown or downtown area?

Soemthing swanky, and not a prom/anniversary feeling.

The Grape, Terrellis, although my personal favorite for first dates is Dave and Busters.

Actually, I think Dave and Buster's would be a great second date...first one (in my experience) is full of expectations, being proper, etc....as a second date, it'd be a lot of fun.

For the first date, might I suggest Cuba Libre...good food, upbeat, and great drinks

As a third date, a picnic at one of our parks...bonus points if you make the meal yourself

2900 - nice but not too expensive. you can walk across the street to tabc after dinner if things are going well.

Hole in the Wall is a cool place too. I have first date experience there myself.

if you want something nice but not too pricey, every girl i know loves La Duni. particularly the desserts. it's a classy place without being "omg we're on a first date".

I guess I get straight to the point that is why I prefer D&B as a first date to try and get through all the "uncertainty" and "doubt" right off the bad. If she can't feel comfortable trying to kick my ass in skeet ball we're not going to get too far. Unless she is really hot!

Frankly, I think Terelli's is a horrible idea. If they have live Jazz going, which they usually do, then you will have to yell at each other to be heard.

Most of the other ideas on here are good.

My vote is for Abacus or Hectors on Henderson. Do the Knox Henderson area so if it goes well you can walk over to a bar.

Coal Vines across from the Crescent. Brick oven NY style pizza and wine bar. Nice Uptown style crowd, reasonably priced for a first date.
