Ok so wanting people to follow property code and zoning makes me a "lib" ?

I mean if they were running a strip club in a residential neighborhood then I'd be so down.

I don't give a **** if they want to be capitalistic but running a business out of a residential home seems pretty cut and dry to me especially as the employee count goes higher and higher

Maybe I'll let you tell me how many employees should be able to come to work everyday before neighbors are allowed to give a ****

This is NUTS. 8-10 people there 8-5? They need to get office space. A month ago. Totally inappropriate to do that to your neighbors in a residential area. In considerate. Residential areas are for residential living. Certainly Not commercial operations.

AND - if they can afford to hire 8-10 people they can certainly afford office space.

It's a zoning violation. Home is supposed to be used for single family residence only. Call code enforcement.

Code compliance went and visited the house. Asked them if they were running a business in the house, they lied and said no.

They have since rented office space and are no longer operating out of the house to the best of my knowledge.

City of Dallas response time was within a week I believe.

This is an idiotic comment.

If we were dealing with a 9/11 type situation, then yeah, you let something like this slide. Someone's office building is, like, no longer there and 3K people are dead. We have other stuff to worry about.

It doesn't even have to be that serious. Maybe a week, 10 days, something reasonable. But at that point, it has to end. As OP said, this is a residential neighborhood that isn't zoned commercial. Also, if we were talking a CPA with an occasional visitor and maybe ONE employee, then again, you MIGHT let that slide. But if it is a zoning violation, you're under no obligation to.

Do you respect the "property rights" of people to have human sacrifices on their property? What about shooting off fireworks or firearms? Exactly what law-breaking will you allow and what will you not allow? Because if you don't respect law breaking on THEIR property, aren't you guilty of not respecting THEIR property rights?

I respect people's property rights. I also expect them to obey the law like I do. And there's no one in the history of political discourse that would EVER call me a lib. Contrary to what some people think, we don't have a right to break the law and it isn't a violation of property rights to expect others to obey it. Attempting to link capitalism in this is just stupid. I guess you'd be fine with drug houses all around you. After all, they're just trying to make a living, right?

Please think a little more clearly before making posts like this. It really sets you up to look silly. But, as you say, you do you.
