The North Texas Teen Book Festival is this Saturday at the Irving Convention center
https://www.northtexasteenbookfestival.com/

The Festival is a one day event focused on middle grade and young adult literature for kids ages 8 and up. There are author panels, workshops, book giveaways, talks by illustrators, and a massive signing session. We have 70+ authors this year and they are some of the biggest names in children's literature. R.L. Stine, Mr. Goosebumps himself will be there. It's an event I've been volunteering with for the past 10 years and something I am very passionate about, Children's Literacy.

-The entire event is free.

-We have 3 different programming tracks: Middle Grade, Young Adult, and Graphic Novels.

-Talking Animals Bookstore from Grapevine will be running a bookstore at the event. Every book available will be presigned by the author.

-There is an event called speed dating with a book in where a volunteer will pitch 3 or 4 different books to a kid and at the end of the 5 minutes they get to pick on to take home (for free).

-Most major publishers will be in attendance handing out swag, free books, and special drops of Advanced Reader Copies of books before they even come out

-Food trucks will be parked outside for Lunch

-The author signing at the end of the day allows kids to get books personalized or even bring a book or something from home to get signed. Many authors also hand out free stickers, bookmarks, swag, etc.

-The only things that cost money are books in the bookstore, merch from the official festival store, and any food or concessions.

This a huge event for the the metroplex reading community and one of the largest if not the largest of it's kind in the country. We regularly have anywhere from 10k-15K people attend and 90% of them are kids. So if you are looking for something fun for your kids (or you) to do this weekend, I highly suggest checking it out.
