My mom was an antique dealer in dfw for 25 yrs and Michell was one of her favorite estate sales to visit. She usually drag me along. They've been in business since 1974. Scotty Mitchell passed away a few years ago but Gary Miller is still going.

You will end up paying 40% of the proceeds. Depending on what everything is worth you might be better off to sell the big stuff on your own and donate/trash the rest

Especially if you don't have the time or have any idea of what things are worth.
My experience with estate sales is that everything is way overpriced. If the goal is to get rid of stuff instead of making money then I'd do it yourself.
Not trying to hijack, but I'm genuinely curious as to how this works.
We are Looking at helping my MIL downsize in a few years, and I'd like to get a company to sell everything we don't move to the new house or get rid of it. Don't care about maximizing our profit, I care about minimizing our time and effort.
Are these estate sales the way to do that?

I follow some of their estate sale auctions. Some things go for decent amounts. This seems like an easy way to do things.
