Probably want to lock down those patio chairs, bring in the flags, and secure those seat cushions. It's already gusty out there but supposed to get windy tonight I think.

Feels like we've been waiting forever to have a cool stormy Sunday. Only thing that would have made today better was if the Ags would have taken care of business last night.

Got a message from our company's automated system about a tornado warning this morning - did we actually get tornadoes in the area?

Ah, more info would help huh? The supporting text on the FB post.

We need to talk about Thursday of next week, the day after Christmas. Several meteorologists are now on board with some worry that north Texas' weather set-up for that day is eerily reminiscent of 2015.

If you're a newcomer to the area, you may have heard folks talk about a very warm, misty December evening that culminated in several tornadoes in our area. The worst of the bunch touched down in Sunnyvale, then ripped across I-30 and the Bush, plowed through Rowlett, and proceeded northeast for a few miles before lifting up into the clouds again. Sadly, eight people perished - most of them in their cars around the I-30/Bush interchange.

Let's pray that some of the parameters change and all the worry is negated. In the meantime, at least be aware that while most folks' minds will be elsewhere, there could be severe weather on the 26th.

That was a freaky day! We lived in rowlett and left town around 530 am to go see family in MO. It felt so weird outside that morning I remember making comments about it.

Then around 730 that night, in the middle of a big thunderstorm in MO, our phones started blowing up from neighbors and friend in Rowlett. Luckily our house was in the fema radius but not a direct tornado path. Knew several families that had total losses.

My roommate that I lived with in Dallas was out at his parents place in Rowlett that night and they rode it out in a bathroom.

How did everyone fare? Weather Underground says we got 2.5in here in Coppell. We thankful returned home this afternoon to see that our sump pump kept up with the deluge.

Driving north on I45 in Hutchings at 2ish and they had traffic to the far right lane because the road drain was clogged. The water was almost over the middle concrete divider!

We got 1.5" in Farmers Branch, and the majority of that was over the course of about 20 minutes. The strength of the storm was surprising...felt more like a spring storm

Got a LOT in north Dallas/Rochardson. Haven't had a chance to check the gauge, but it filled the pool pretty well. Probably 3 inches or so give or take.

Anybody heard if today's storm is likely to bring hail with it? I need to run a few errands around lunchtime but will stay home if there's a risk of my car getting lit up.

The more severe storms are expected to be afternoon / east of I-35. It isn't an impossibility, but right now DFW is in a "5% chance of hail" per the storm prediction center office.

Thank you! Was surprised by hail on Tuesday and didn't want that to happen again, especially if I was planning to be driving around in it.
