In from San Antonio...I have a rare night without a business dinner and I'm staying downtown. Anyone have a favorite Deep Ellum bar we can go to?

Dallas Comedy Club is at the corner of Elm and Hall. Its away from most of the bars in Deep Ellum but in walking distance and a fun option. They have a free open mic night tonight, plus a bar inside. As for bars in DE, if you are into craft beer Dot's Hop House or Westlake Brewing are good options. I also like Twilite Lounge on Elm. If you are staying downtown check out City Tavern

How about lower Greenville?

Lowest Greenville has Truck Yard, big outdoor space + food trucks, which would be nice since its not so hot outside. The Libertine is also a good and if you want to relive your college days no better place than Old Crow.

For a taste of the S. Pacific trade winds... tiki bar nearby, Swizzle.

Yeah... I've heard Deep Ellum has gotten really bad. That's sad.

As for Deep Ellum bars, Adairs is always a hit

Dots is always a good time. 100 beers on tap or something like that. Highly recommend going when the sun is still up.

I live about a mile away from DE and I won't go there at night anymore and haven't in a few years. I've got a neighbor who works down there and she tells stories of violence every night she works.

This is the right answer just for the unbelievable talent there nightly.

Oh, and the grilled cheese is the best in town.
