How long do you want to ignore this user?

The wife and I are planning a kid-less overnight trip this weekend within a 2 hour drive of Tyler. Looking to stay in a nice hotel/bnb/vrbo, eat a nice meal, pre/post dinner drinks, potentially go to a comedy show/play if anything is going on.

Ideally we'd like to stay somewhere we could walk and do all those things but also could Uber if needed.

I'd appreciate any ideas/advice, thanks! Cross posting in travel and DFW forum.

Stay in FW Stockyards, eat at any of the great restaurants, walk to Billy Bobs for Josh Abbott, then take a uber to ol' south for late night

We used to do this as locals a couple times a years, but it's been 4-5 years since the last time. My wife is probably wondering what happened there. There's probably some newer options but:

Downtown: Joule Hotel, great hotel, CBD Provisions or an Italian place for dinner, Midnight Rambler is a basement speakeasy type place for good drinks and sometimes live music

Thompson Hotel, can do dinner at Monarch (about as high end as it gets in Dallas) or the sushi place, drinks or dinner at Catbird also an option, for those 2 you wouldn't even have to leave the hotel unless you want to

Lots of uptown options, ZaZa, Crescent, Stoneleigh

North of Downtown: Park Cities Hilton is a short uber to Highland Park Village, we love Bistro 31, there's some other options, it should still be lit up from Christmas and its pretty spectacular. Ladies usually love walking the shops they're all insanely $$$$. Theres a couple cocktail bars, they can get packed and with college not back probably will be with Park Cities kids still at home.

The above rec of McKinney and Grand Hotel isn't bad either, I haven't ever stayed at the hotel but downtown McKinney is awesome and very walkable, look at Harvest for dinner and theres a speakeasy called Room One Eleven, even requires a password found on their social media.

Only comedy club I've ever been to in Dallas is the Addison Improv, hotels around there will all be standard business class hotels, and while there is plenty of food and drink options, it can be hit or miss immediately nearby

Been a few years for us as well, mine probably wonders about that too.

The Adolphus and the French Room are pretty good. Or as said, there are plenty of DT Dallas hotels and restaurants. Never really cared for walking around DT Dallas though.

We used to go to FW more for this kind of thing. We tended to stay more in the Sundance square area and stay at the Omni (the good ole days when we had a Texag hookup there.) Not sure how that area is holding up. Thought I saw some stories of it declining. Been a while since we went for the getaway weekend, though we have been a few times for kids events.

We stayed at The Drover and had dinner at Lonesome Dove last summer. Can't go wrong with that!

$900 per night on certain weekends for the Drover... got dang!

$500 on a normal weekend per night.

Stock Show coming up. A lot of people in town who won't blink at $900.

There are a lot of new boutique hotels' and options in FTW. I wanna try the Hotel Otto.

Maybe try the new PGA in Frisco. Don't know much about it though.

The Grand is nice and all but if this is a very rare thing you can do so much better. FW is quite the hike.

Go to Hotel Swexan near downtown. Thank me later.

The Omni at PGA Frisco is a solid suggestion. Bonus if yall play, but it's a nice property even without the golf. Full Omni amenities so you don't even have to leave (restaurant, spa, etc.). Plus you can get a balcony overlooking the course.

For a hotel with access to dinner and drinks and some location switching, I would recommend The Statler or the Joule in addition to the Adolphus. They are all in the same general area. The Statler has a solid basement "speakeasy", a rooftop bar, and a breakfast joint. The Joule has a pool that is worth looking at even if you're not getting in and CBD Provisions.

I drive past it often, is it the new standard bearer for Dallas? The Ritz supposedly is getting renovated (or already did?) but the rooms there are pretty tired and plain.

Stayed there over new years and it was pretty amazing. Their restaurant (Stillwells) is also incredible. Had one of the best tomahawks there.

It opened this summer so it is much more updated than the Ritz....

The new Bowie House in FW is supposed to be pretty amazing.

I grew up in Fort Worth from 1986-2005, went to Arlington Heights less than 5 minutes away from the Bowie House. I've lived in the Dallas area since 2010 post-college but my wife and I's parents are still in Fort Worth so we're over there quite often. I'm telling you this because I somehow hadn't been down that part of Camp Bowie in a while I guess and had a serious WTF is that moment last weekend when I drove by it. Looks really cool, but the location of a nice hotel like that threw me off.
