Need to take my father-in-law to a high end sea food place for his 80th birthday. Any recommendations near the Plano/richardson/frisco area. Thanks

Chamberlain's in Addison would probably be my default choice. Pretty highly regarded for both steak and seafood.

Not quite "high end" per se in that it is a casual atmosphere, but Urban Seafood has become our favorite spot. Great oysters, really good fish and entrees, and great sides. The cioppino on a cold night is outstanding, the lobster roll is fantastic, the lobster mac and cheese is great, and the truffle chocolate cheesecake is our favorite although their baked alaska is supposed to be their specialty. Their specials are always really good. If you have enough people, they have a semi private room that I bet you could book.

We like Urban Seafood in downtown Plano as well. Nice setting. My only complaint is their fish 'n chips. The stuffed shrimp is amazing. Good drinks and a great happy hour too. Good raw oysters.

We really like Urban Seafood also. Another option, it's not "upscale" but we've always had a great experience at Anaya's on Jupiter and George Bush in Richardson.

no clue how Hudson House hasn't made an appearance on this thread but it should have. it should be your #1 option. great happy hour.

urban seafood is also outstanding.

as said above, Anayas is great for a more casual option.

Yes. Hudson House is great too. Ironically, I think the best thing on their menu is their cheeseburger.

Anayas is really great. Never had anything I didn't like there. But not fancy, as said.

Been to Oceanaire a few times. Fits the fancy and expensive part. Never blown away by the food.

If he like lobster, there is an interesting hole in the wall /old school northeast (I guess) place in Addison called Lefty's Lobster House that is pretty good.

Edit to add :

Chamberlains is always good. Wish their fish market grill was still around. Liked it better, but the steakhouse is up there for us.

Also, there is a place that has made our rotation in Addison called Osteria Pane Vino. Sounds Italian and I guess it is. Must be a regional type Italian because it is not your typical spaghetti and pasta place. I usually get seafood, they have a lot of choices and everything has been really really great. Ambiance is nice casual to kinda fancy, so could do a celebration there. We have.

Oceanside has great crab cakes but last time we were there the service was laughably bad. Our waiter actually lied about the oysters. lol. That place has gone downhill.

I recall someone on here who would comment specifically on Hudson House regarding the quality of their food. In that, it was also frozen crap and nothing was fresh.

I have no idea if that's true.

I looked up that post the other day because of this thread. Guy hasn't posted in quite a while:

Not sure how I ordered 2 dozen frozen oysters. The chicken was sous vide. I was skeptical but it was really good.

I actually agree with that poster regarding Hudson house. I've been a few times and it just seems like an upscale Chili's or something. A few things did seem very generic/frozen (it's been a couple years so don't remember what I got, but I haven't wanted to go back). I do like their burger though, which someone mentioned earlier in this thread. Don't think I've had their chicken.

It's fine I guess, but I definitely would not recommend Hudson house for an upscale seafood dinner celebration. I'd rather go to a casual seafood place with great food.

My wife loves it. I think it's average.

It definitely gets the lakewood housewives frothed up, and for that I salute it.
