Considering a tribute tattoo for my Dad. Have no idea how this works. Any help?

No personal knowledge, but daughter got one as a tribute when my dad died. She liked the place she went in Addison. I can find out where.

Not sure if you're located in Southlake, but if you're in Dallas, Eden Body Art at Preston/635 is great.

On of my co-workers grandsons is incredibly talented. While his art may not be your style, he would probably be able to help you find the right artist. He's based in waxahachie

I'm in DFW and have a bunch.

you're probably going to want a realism tattoo if you want something with his face, landmark, or tree. a good realist tattoo artist is going to be expensive. probably $1500 a session (a session is all day)

if you're getting an animal I would recommend my guy, Tiffer Wright out of Folklore trading. he's $2,000 a session I believe now.

if you give me more feedback on what you're looking for I can help, but I would start of knowing what kind of style you want and start looking at artist portfolios to determine who will give you the best for your money. The styles out there you'll probably will want will fall under:

realism/hyperrealism
traditional / old school
neo-traditional (my favorite)
fine lines and geometric

I do not recommend going with an artist under $1,000 unless you want something small. a good looking tattoo that is small is very difficult so make sure to look at their portfolio

best of luck!

Any recommendations for Geometric? Sending out availability emails and earliest I can find is next summer. I didn't realize tattoo artists booked that far out. Business must be good.

yeah man. talented artists are raking in $250K plus a year right now with 12 - 18 months of booked appointments. my guy's year will usually book up in a couple of weeks.

I googled geometric tattoo in Dallas and while I haven't heard of these shops, these guys have impressive work:

Ejay at Singleton
David Mushaney (private)
Derrick Teal at Volition Arts

when you reach out be specific and keep in mind they will want to go bigger than you want to. it's easier for tattoo's to look better when they are bigger - more room for the canvas and detail

My Dad was a fighter pilot. I want his jet flying in a two ship formation. The second jet represents my Brother. Both died in the last 3 years from brain cancer. My Brother was Class of 88.

The jets would be gray / black in a climbing turn. Both jets about 2 inches long.

F102 F100 or F86.

I have pictures of all 3 planes.

Thank you for your inputs. It's taken me this long to get this done.

Dark Age tattoo in Denton- a ton of really talented artists. Just got my first one a few months back from Josy Castro and she was fantastic. I've had several friends I've trained with go there and all have been happy.
