Had a coworker witness the shooting. I'm sure more will come out but they had to run past someone shot in the head as they evacuated.

Was planning on taking the family there Monday. May be rethinking it now.

sister and husband and her in laws there; they ran like hell for the first exit. Wound up on opposite side of fair grounds from car and people were panic running from all exits. Really dumb move with everything on Defcon 1 with all of the middle east unrest. But I am sure the perp(s) aren't exactly world affairs experts.

Wife & I hit up the fair for the first time since 97-we had just watched the parade and were looking at a map to navigate the best route to our cars when my sister said "umm, people are running toward us" looks up as we were about to be swarmed, grabbed my wife's hand and told my sister let's go as we booked it to cover…
once they announced the evacuation we had to walk the perimeter to get to our parking

apparently the fair closed early Friday night as well due to someone w a gun

If nothing else charges should be commensurate w the economics of evacuating the fair

Found out today that my sister and her whole family were there last night when this happened. My niece got stepped on during the madness but thankfully that was it.

I have a friend from deep East Texas who was there with a bunch of Cubs and Scouts; said the younger kids were pretty dang scared.

I feel for the cops. On one hand, was creating a panic across the entire fair park (nearly 300 acres) REALLY necessary for an isolated event? On the other, had this been a true mass shooting event and they not cleared the fair, the 2nd guessing would have unreal. Pretty much a no win situation.

I also "love" the media saying "it is unclear whether the 22 year old suspect had a license to carry" (I'm going to go with nah) and one of our idiot councilmembers using it to grandstand for gun control.

Not interested in starting a gun control debate here but it's my understanding that you are not prohibited from carrying a gun on the fairgrounds. Is that incorrect?

I was right next to the shooter when he was apprehended. The cops tackled him, did some cool jiu jitsu moves, and one cop yelled gun and slid it to his partner who emptied the chamber and magazine.

I was close enough to hit the shooter with a pool stick. when the cop yelled gun I thought to myself...*****..this is how I go...at the state fair...how embarrassing

getting out of the fair was chaos. there were constant rounds of dozens of people running and screaming. at first I wasn't worried about a mass shooting event when I saw the perp but when more and more people kept running and screaming...it was intense. my buddy and I hugged the walls, helped people with strollers, and walked behind cars until we got to mine.

The security this year is an absolute joke. when I walked through the detector went off and they told me to go ahead. I made a joke to my friend that someone absolutely has a gun on them right now.

I'll never be in a position of "I wish I had my gun on me" again. I ordered a HK P2000SK for carrying. I use to carry but stopped when I sold my carry gun. current pistol is way too big to carry. stay strapped or get clapped.

lol carrying doesn't mean I'm pulling it out in that situation. pulling out a gun with cops tackling a guy brings a one way ticket to forever sleep.

while I understand some people are that dumb...I am not.
