Was just quoted a massive amount to replace the Carrier equipment inside the home in the attic (5 years and 6 months old... warranty expired back in March), which also covered bringing my attic up to code for not having a drain safety switch or jones valve. Showed me no pictures of issues.
I had a new guy this time as the previous one was fired for lying to customers, which apparently I was one of them for a $500 repair job. He offered nothing else other than "oh well that sucks". Since I used them for 3 years and had it checked annually, I demanded to know why this wasn't brought to my attention. He blamed the other guy.
To replace the coolant fluid was $300-$700. To bring it to code was $300-$1000. The lump sum was $6000 for everything. Since we are looking to sell the house in 3-6 months... I'd rather here from others.
I'll reveal the company later just to see if they pop up in the recommendation. Was going to get multiple quotes before I proceeded any further. I saw a thread recommending Imperial Air Conditioning. Anyone else have a good recommendation?
