Pie 314 is a solid little Italian/pizza spot in the shops at castle hills that we go to all the time. There is a breakfast spot in there we frequent too. Maybe we will see you around!

Yeah Pie314 is great and Hills Cafe is the breakfast place we had brunch there yesterday. Or the coffee/pastry place Sophia's. The ramen place is good too.

We've tried most of the places in Castle Hills already.

As someone who had serious foundation issues in Mansfield, I'd suggest getting a structural engineer out to inspect before your warranty runs out (typically 10 years). Hope that didn't hijack this thread

The general rule of thumb for castle hills used to be that homes prior to 2007-2008 have a higher probability to have foundation issues than one's post 2007-2008. There were lawsuits against the early builders for not doing the necessary soil tests.

That said, I've always heard that most of the slab foundations in the metroplex are due for foundation issues at some point in the first 40 years.

Drop the "/". Just "DFW". It's cleaner.

If public schools are an option you should give Lovejoy ISD a look. It is consistently one of the top rated schools in the state. Good area to have space but everything you need day to day is no more than 10 minutes away.
Staff - take out the trash.

Our kids go to public school as we live in a smaller district than Aledo, but we have friends with kids at Trinity Christian in Willow Park. You could live in Aledo, Willow Park, Weatherford, Brock (basically anything along 20 west of Fort Worth and put your kids in school there).

We also have friends at Weatherford Christian who seem to be having a good experience. It is a pretty small school - lots of good churches in the area.

North Carrollton, specifically the Castle Hills or Homestead neighborhoods, could be perfect based on your comments so far. Houses generally 20 years old or newer and your dollar goes a hair further than Plano, Dallas, Frisco, etc.

Schools within 10 min:
-Prestonwood Christian Academy
-Trinity Christian Academy

Misc:
15-20 min to the Frisco legacy area
15-20 min to Lewisville proper
20-30 min to both airports
45 min to downtown Ft. Worth
25-40 min to downtown Dallas depending on the state of I 35

We have a 3yr old and a 9 week old and couldn't ask for a better spot from a raising kids standpoint.

We moved to N. Carrollton specifically Mustang Park but there are quite a few new neighborhoods in the area and Grandscape is 5 minutes. We like it a lot. Moved from far north Richardson. Our kids have been going to Prestonwood Christian (4 min away) since pre-k and oldest graduated last year.

Just don't buy a house too close to Mt. Lewisville.

Reach out to Dat or Matt Mahone. They both have several kids at Faith Christian in Grapevine.

My kids call it Trash Mountain. We talk about how the stuff we throw away in the garbage can ends up there.

I had a friend who lived in the neighborhood just to the southeast of it. You could see it from his house. I'm still not sure how he sold that house.

I totally forgot about mustang park. Good call.

Any issues being that close to the railroad tracks? I've always been curious .

I grew up in the area and used to go sledding down the mound when it would ice. This was in the early 90s and before it grew to what is today.

I wouldn't buy west of Old Denton Rd for that reason. Any closer to it and you catch a whiff when the wind is blowing from the right angle.

I think you mean you would not buy west of Old Denton (it runs north/south). And I agree. I'm east of there near Josey. Old Denton is the peak of a rise in the area so east of there you don't even see it (or smell it).

Yeah, I edited immediately after posting. I feel like there are enough of us around here to grab a beer at Pie314 one of these days.

Weird when I read it it said north - but even in my reply it was corrected already - i wonder if it grabs the edited version when you reply.

One other option I haven't seen noted on here... Prestonwood also has a north campus in Prosper. Smaller classes and such, but there can be benefits to that. I believe the elementary school ages likely have bigger classes than the high school currently.

We have friends/teachers there, and all have been very pleased.

I grew up in Lake Highlands and finished at Trinity Christian Academy in Addison. Had breakfast with a friend this morning and he confirmed TCA remains very rigorous academically, and is not for everyone. I had a good experience, FWIW.

Currently live in Frisco with kids in public school. Legacy Christian is close by and friends have loved it.

Lots of good options. Welcome to the Metroplex.

Not to derail but curious when you graduate from TCA. I'm class of '02 and my brother was class of '99 so we probably cross paths given your username.

Thought Las Colinas had the worst soil due to all of the excavation from DFW and deep layers of clay.

I have one at Covenant Christian in Colleyville, and another that will start there next year. Should be on your list to check out.

I'm for sure partial to the mid cities though. We've lived all over it, and went to High School at Bell. Convenient to nearly everywhere not completely choked up with too much rapid growth. My wife is a realtor in case that's something you're looking for too.

Hillside Community Church in Keller should be checked out as well. Medium size. I think the pastor is going to be in line with what you're looking for. Teaches the bible and challenges the congregation. Not political.
