My favorite tailgate memory comes from the Alabama game in 2021. I have spent most of my post grad game days working on tailgate sites, and this particular game was no different. As it typically does - pre game was a blur as our event staff team scrambled around all day to solve customer problems.
Once the game kicked off and things slowed down outside of the stadium, our on site staff (mostly consisting of students) huddled up by the TV in our Bright Football Complex headquarters to watch the chaos that ensued. Soon after Seth Small nailed the game winner, and the celebrations outside of the stadium calmed down, I looked around and noticed that a portion of our game day staff had disappeared. After about 25 minutes they reappeared, looking giddy as ever.
Turns out as soon as the kick cleared the uprights, a group of our student workers hightailed it into the stadium to take part in storming the field. Being their employer, I probably should have reprimanded them for leaving a job site while on the clock. However I couldn't help but be overwhelmed with joy that those students, who chose to spend their game day working, still got to experience something of that magnitude!
