I am wanting to buy a four seater golf cart and looking online most everything I see is new and out of my price range. Does anyone know where to look or who to contact for a nice used golf cart in the $6k dollar range? TIA.

Get out of Dallas. Be willing to drive and you will find what you are looking for.

I know new is out of your price range, but you might consider that if you do buy new they have nice financing deals. EZGO has 0% for 36, 1.99 for 48 and 3.99 for 60. Plus it comes brand new with a warranty. Just an option.

Through who? Direct from EZGO or through a local dealer?

If you have to finance a golf cart, do you really need a golf cart?

Any local dealer that sells EZGO will be able to get you the financing deals. You get qualified through Sheffield Financial and then provide the dealer with the account details and they will take care of getting it charged to the Sheffield account for you.

If you find anything under $6k in DFW that isn't ancient, it likely needs money put into it. Tires, batteries, etc.

Keep that in mind. For this reason alone and lack of inventory, I purchased new for $10k which came with a warranty and 2 year battery warranty.

Exactly. I don't get why people don't understand. I can drop $10k today or I can use the banks money, invest the 10k and use $200 of my disposable income each month to pay the loan off. Has nothing to do with "needing" a golf cart. Not sure anyone has a true need for one.

Depends on who's picking the investments. If it was me it might wind up being a $20,000 golf cart!

Just wait until a family gets killed on one of these things driving around the neighborhood and you will be able to pick one up super cheap.

I'll bet approximately 0% of people invest $10,000 when they finance a $10,000 golf cart.

It's not a math issue, it's a habit issue.

I think it's safe to assume way more than 0% of people have more than $10k already invested or in some sort of savings account that are in the market for a golf cart to cruise around in their golf course communities. My point is, why would you take a 10k hit on a disposable product when you can use the banks money. Just because you finance it doesn't mean you can't afford it. Especially when you can finance @ 0%.

We bought a refurbished EZGO from Plano Golf Carts 5 years ago for about $4500. It has been great. Came with a 4 year warranty I think. It has been trouble-free so far.

I wasn't planning on debating this, but why not?

First, being able to afford it and a savvy financial decisions are two very different things. I don't want anybody to tell me what I can and can't buy, and I don't plan to tell others what they can or cannot buy. But hopefully we can all agree some purchases are unwise.

On items like golf carts, there's a financing cost built in. The banks don't do 0% for nothing, the manufacturer and/or dealership pay for that. You can probably get a discount for paying in cash. That's one reason.

But again, it's about habits. People who typically finance things typically finance too many things and get caught in trouble. And where do you draw the line? Do you finance a $10 hamburger on a 0% interest card? Sure, you could invest that $10 and make a few cents in interest, but I hope we can both agree that's not smart.

I don't think a golf cart is not something you should finance. Sure, there are situations where it makes sense. But I would bet a vast majority of people who finance a $10,000 golf cart don't have $10,000 in an account earning more.

I bought a 48V, 25 year old Club Car here off Texags 1-2 years ago. Did batteries and a rear seat kit. I have $3500 in in total. We use it all the time. Kids love it and do not care at all that it is not jacked up or blinged out.

Did not finance it.

Was at a "lake house" at PK over the holiday that was really part of a blinded out trailer park. Quite sure that the majority of the people who had golf carts out there (most did) financed them.
