Looking to play a round, ideally within 15 minutes of the tollway and 380. Would like a relatively easy course and green fees under $100. Any recommendations?

Try the golf board for a better response. I play but not in that general area.

The Trails
Westridge
Frisco Lakes

Are all about the same general price point and proximity.
If you're flexible on tee time and day, you might be able to get into The Tribute under $100 which is by far the best course that meets your parameters.

Getting on at Gentle Creek CC would be nice too if you have any connections.

All good suggestions. Trails is tough. I've heard Lakes is easier but yet to play.

Can always go to Stewart peninsula.....

15 minutes from Tollway and 380....Westridge is your best bet.

A little more than 15 miles, but the Bridges in Gunter is a great course. It's pretty easy to get on and fees are very reasonable.

Played Frisco Lakes last week - the winter storm really took a toll on it. Tribute is even worse though. I'd avoid both of those if other options are in better shape.

I'd avoid TCP Craig's Ranch this weekend.

Bridges in Gunter for sure. Not much more than 15 min

Played Bridges at the end of March - never played a course that was in worse shape. 80% dirt on fairways - guess the grass was wiped out by the snowstorm. Would be a decent course if it was in normal shape.

Frisco Lakes is much easier than the Trails, and it's pretty easy to get on.

gonna be a rough year for courses up here. Even TPC Craig Ranch has some rough spots.

Played Trails of Frisco about a month ago and multiple tee boxes were just dirt. $79 for that.

Played westridge yesterday and the greens were pretty rough from storm damage

I'm at Gentle Creek as well. Course is in rough shape compared to normal with patches of dead spots like everywhere else. Finally got new carts. Clubhouse is closed since it got wiped out by the ice storm. Hopefully ownership is about to change hands. Current owner has done nothing to improve the course or facilities for years. Looks like Arcis is going to take it over.

I'll echo Frisco Lakes. Not sure of current shape there but last year I took advantage of the twilight rates in the summer. Right by my house and I never had trouble getting on.

Keep me posted on this. A neighbor and I reached out with interest back in the fall.

What's membership thought on this?

Arcis feels like a clubcorp lite. We were members of GlenEagles in Plano before moving up to Prosper.

Any idea on when the clubhouse will be open?

Late last year a group of members had it under contract, but it fell apart at the end. That would have been a best case scenario. I'm not a big fan of Arcis, but so long as they keep it as part of their private clubs, it should be fine. Right now, pretty much everyone just wants new ownership.

Not sure on the clubhouse. My guess is the purchasers probably want to direct much of the rebuild with some upgrades, but there is no way the current owner will spend any more than she has to. There are workarounds to accomplish both, but I have no idea how things are being handled.

was all that not covered under insurance? I would imagine getting that fixed and open again would make it more enticing to a buyer. Otherwise, a buy is just going to low-ball.

It's likely covered, but it was in severe need of upgrading. Current owner would just restore to prior condition. Whereas, new owner would likely update and upgrade. Easier to upgrade and use some of insurance money to do so rather than tear out what prior owner puts in and then upgrade. I confirmed that is likely the case with some guys this weekend. Closing appears imminent, so hopefully some good news in the next few weeks.

Sounds like I joined just in time.
