How long do you want to ignore this user?
Does anyone have recs for a physical therapist that you / someone you know has had personal success with? My specific needs are lower back but am open to anyone who has had success working on any area of their body.

My chiropractor is a nice guy but when I ask for stretches / exercises to assist with my back issues he gives me clear as mud direction and then goes back to focusing on alignments. I could be more firm with him but I'm thinking it's gone beyond the needs of a chiropractor at this point. But maybe I should try Airrosti or whatever magic voodoo they peddle, instead?

(And yes - I have googled "good stretches / exercises to strengthen the lower back" and been doing them. I'm still covering myself in IcyHot patches so I'm in need of more guidance.)

Thank you in advance!

I'm currently in PT after having hip arthroscopic surgery last November. I've had two different PT's (the first is now on maternity leave), and both have been excellent. That said, I am in McKinney and so are they. I'm guessing that is further than you want to go. But if not, let me know, and I will pass along their info.

Not true "physical therapy", but these dudes know their stuff. They work with a lot of pro athletes on specific needs/injuries. Worth on consult at least.

I had a great experience with Airrosti. This was in Irving, but they were all competent and very effective. The PT in Irving was an Aggie, female, younger and very good at what she does. I think this was 3 years ago. I had a hip issue and they fixed it. I was planning on surgery and after 5 visits to their practice I was pain free.

Also - I don't think its "magic voodoo." My daughter went to ATI for PT after an injury and they used similar techniques, but it wasn't the same thing. A good PT is going to be effective at helping you while you're in their office and also providing all the info you need to take it back home. At Airrosti I had to physically demonstrate their stretching and rolling regimen three times, uncorrected, before they would let me leave. And then they followed up multiple times a week asking about my stretching and levels of mobility and pain.

Nervy - It was the best experience with a healthcare professional I have had. I think you asked a similar question a couple years ago and I want to say I said the same thing then as I am now.

Vista Rehab on 190 in Richardson. Best PT staff and facility I have experienced. Both the PTs are great and the support staff is great as well. Maybe a little north of your area, but worth it.

I also had a really good experience with airrosti. The group I used was in Dallas and I think the Dr's name was Santos. I have disc issues and torn muscles in my back and have been through a lot of procedures. One of the surgeons suggested trying airrosti and it really did make a huge difference. My wife is actually a PT and was skeptical at first, but it was definitely a positive for my issues.

I'd also recommend Tom Landry center at the downtown Baylor hospital.

I hope you get some relief. I know how back issues can not only interrupt physical activity, but also sleep and life in general.

My wife has had good success with Airrosti on a hip issue.

I went to Dr. Mary Collings for a back issue a couple years ago and I thought she was very helpful. She's the chiropractor for a bunch of the Mavs and Stars players and her office is in Snyder Plaza. She gave me some help on stretches and things to try and my problem really got better.

Disclosure: I work for Airrosti, so I'm a little biased.

Dr Matt Yocom is the Airrosti provider in Uptown, and he's excellent. Would definitely recommend at least a consultation with him to see if the treatment model is right for you. Happy to answer any questions you have

Disclosure - I am a PT and work at for an outpatient facility with Baylor on forest/75.

The tom landry center has good PTs and I used to work there when I lived downtown, at that location I would reccomend Christel Ray. 3DPT on oaklawn has a good reputation as well though but I'm not 100% sure who is at their uptown location anymore. Baylor at carroll avenue downtown is also a good location and is one of our sport clinics, as I'm not sure your age/exact issue but at that location I'd reccomended Alex Green or Alex Adler. If you end up seeing any of the people I listed you can tell them Jace referred you.

Thank you for these suggestions! I have a list of calls to make now and I'm excited to make them.

Rebag you must have a crazy good memory bc I hardly remember asking back then but I think you're right.

And I'm a 35 yo female who sits on her couch hunched over her laptop all day, so my main problem is that I'm a complete idiot who knew better. But now that I'm not doing that anymore I need to fix the damage that I did.

Thank you again!

Also at Baylor is a guy named Carlton who worked on me and was really good. If Ross works there now he's great as well, but I think he's at another Baylor. I used to know their last names but don't remember off the top of my head.

Last one: Dr Mary Turnage at Presby was really good. I saw her at the same time I was seeing a surgeon. I thought it was great to have someone that wasn't quick to recommend surgical procedure. That was more than 10 years ago though so no idea if she's still there or not.

Carlton is a great guy. He is now managing one of our largest clinics in Fort Worth. Josh also has some higher training than your average PT, but I don't know him personally. That clinic has been around forever and also has a good reputation.

I have also tried Airrosti for two different things and had great success with one. Found they pretty much want to have you cured in 3 visits. Worked great for a lower back thing for me. Didn't work for a neck thing (which to be fair, it had no chance once I figured out what the actual issue was.) But it showed me that when there was no progress by the third visit they pretty much told me to find something else.
