I've been thinking about this thread. Our Sting coach got moved when the other Sting coaches got fired. We thought for sure the new coach they gave us was going to be a bust but he has been a breath of fresh air! If you are looking for a 2010G team, let me know if you want to check out our team with Joey Jenkins. We practice at Texas Star in Euless.

That was our first coach, but our current coach (the one I was referring to) is Contreras.

i have heard this guy's name a few times and then last night he actually filled in for our coach who couldn't make it. i wish he had a team in my daughter's age group, he was fantastic.

What club? I know he does skills training now and I don't think he currently has a team but I heard a rumor that he might get back into coaching...

solar. i was impressed. will probably look into his skill classes.

He's rumored to be contemplating "retirement." Which is a rumor that has been around for a couple years, for various reasons and results. As a parent, you either love him or hate him. And he doesn't give a **** which one it is. He has a way of coaching that turns a lot of people off, including some of the girls. He does have a heart for the girls he coaches, I have witnessed it, but he can also be very blunt, direct and almost callous when he gets pissed. Which may or may not work with your 9 yr old.

I always felt like he was more effective with older teams (16-18 yr old's), as he is used to working with skilled players and professionals, but Sting has had him working with younger kids for a while to try to solidify their pipeline. My $.02...

Good to know. Thanks for the reply. He took over Glotzbachs 2010 girls team and is looking for players... Kind of a haul for practice though

Great thread as this is tryout season. My son U11 currently plays for a classic league D3 team but is wanting to spread his wings some. Love the coach and club but maybe a different approach and strategy he would continue improving instead of getting stagnant. We live in Colleyville so traveling for practice is key. Any thoughts, regrets, advice on changing clubs.

We have a 2010 Sting Girl. Would you be interested in coming to Euless/Texas Star? We were playing for Boyle for forever but they moved him with the recent firings and gave us Joey Jenkins. Tatu's 2010 ECNL team is really amazing but Tatu is hard coach and that team travels constantly. I'm really interested to see how everything shakes out this summer.

Our sons would have played each other this past season. They practice in McKinney so probably a bit of a stretch from Colleyville.

I'll jump back in this thread. My 10G is currently playing GCL D2 for FC Dallas West (DeWet). We finished the season 2nd. We just got done guest playing for Intrepid (based out of Murphy) in the Girls International Tournament. Love the team but their style of play didn't match up well with my daughter's. Too far away for us anyway. This past weekend we guest played with FC Dallas Premier West (Heisserer) and won the U13 Texas State Cup with U12 girls. It was a wild ride but they pulled it off. Pretty excited for my daughter and how she played.

If anyone is looking, the two 10G coaches for FC Dallas (Heisserer and DeWet) practicing out of Roanoke are top notch. We have now played for both and I'd be comfortable sending anyone that direction. We will continue to play there.

Someone asked about my experience with ODP. So far it's been good/great. They practice once per month in Fort Worth. We played a tournament in Round Rock over the winter and then regional tryouts began (part of practice). My daughter was chosen to the regional team and will play in Atlanta in June for a chance to make the national pool. It's not elite coaching or anything real different than what you already get with a club but my daughter has made friends outside her team and enjoys getting to play with other kids. It's not that expensive and it's touches and coaching she wouldn't be getting elsewhere. We'll see how Atlanta goes and make a decision on next year after that.

Trying to stay around McKinney for practice... Too many kids to travel to far away

Intrepid if interesting because they usually don't take kids 11v11 but they have a couple of new coaches that want to keep the girls together. That said, there a couple of kids that might to come over to our team this off season but if the team stays together, who knows.

Ha that is crazy. We are currently with Evo and have been for 4 years now. Like the coach but are wondering about a change. Tried out for Solar and Fever, made both, but not sure about driving all over twice a week.

From what I hear that Intrepid team has every intention of taking the 10G team to 11v11 and on.

I understand! We don't want to head into the Dallas side which is limiting our choices. We will look at FC Dallas in Roanoke and a Dallas Texans team in Keller this summer if our team doesn't work out. Sting 10G over on your side of town kind of fell apart this season. There is a Sting 2010 Archer team that will be available and then the Tatu team. Everyone else has fallen apart because Tatu took all the top talent.

Heisserer is moving to Sting to coach the 2010 ECNL/ECRL teams.

Yep. We'll be at his ECNL tryout next week. All of the FCD West girls teams are moving to Sting including ours.

Several sting coaches are moving to the renegades.
Some have been announced and some will be announced after the season.

Oh wow! Is your coach moving too? We can't make the tryouts because my daughter is in the school play next week but she'll come out when they continue. A bunch of our team will be there though.

Yes. Our coach is moving over as well. He'll be conducting tryouts after ECNL tryouts are done. I believe he's trying to play GCL D1 but not positive.

Is he getting a bye into D1? It was supposed to happen last year but GCL is allegedly relegating the bottom 10 D1 teams to D2. The bottom D2 teams are out and qualifying tournament is for D2 only. No D2 teams are getting moved up

I know of one Solar coach that had few top girls teams left for Sting.

Sting always works some weird magic with getting teams into GCL spots. Our team was supposed to be out last year but got back in without doing the tournament again. I bet his old team will take Colon's Sting's GCL D1 spot.

Anyone doing ECNL tryouts this week? How are they going? Teams? Turnout?

Been doing GA and ECNL with current club. Might hit Solar next week.

Practice is too far for us but Sting Colon is looking for 2010s for ECNL/RL/NTX.

The parents on that team do not seem to be happy with their situation. My daughter has guest played for them a lot.

This was during the season. They were just annoyed that players weren't always showing up to the games and that Tatu took a bunch of their better players during the year. A lot of their team was already looking around before the season ended.
