We moved out to Heath (which is essentially South Rockwall) right about a year ago. Previously we were in East Dallas by White Rock lake. We have twins who are 2 and a half and decided we wanted space and a better school. While the option for elementary was great, we didn't like the middle or high school we fed into in Dallas so we decided to move before they started school and we'd have to uproot them.

Everyone is saying things about the commute, but it really does depend on when you are leaving. There are times when I can be downtown in 25 minutes and others where it's a good solid hour. But honestly, there were times living by White Rock that took just as long. One thing that helped a lot, right after we moved out here they re-striped the bridge over Ray Hubbard on 30 to be 4 lanes instead of 3. At the end of the day there are 2 ways over the lake or you can go around it. Waze is your best friend for the commute as there have been a few times where going around the lake was faster than sitting in traffic because a wreck shut down 2 lanes on the bridge. Also, it is a bit of a hike to DFW airport if you have to travel out of there.

You do have just about everything you need out here. We find ourselves going over to Firewheel for the few things that aren't out here. We also go down into Dallas quite a bit on the weekends with our kids to do things like the Perot, the Zoo, the arboretum, etc, or to hit up North Park. Our neighborhood is quiet and we have way more house than we had in the city as well as a pool. So far we like it. But I'll be the first to admit as soon as our kids our grown we're selling the house and moving to a condo in a city somewhere

Feel free to PM me if you want more info.

I relocated to Rockwall this summer so my experiences are still new but I really like the town so far...it has been great for the kids. I am an early riser so when I trek into the office (North of Downtown on 75 and Haskell), I am at my desk by 7. I can get there in about 25 to 30 minutes. The afternoon commute is a bit longer but nothing too bad. If the bridge has an accident on it, you will be stuck for a while.

If you have any specific questions about areas in town, fire away.

We moved to McLendon-Chisholm from LH this summer. I commute to the North park area and the wife is in Lakewood a couple of days a week. Traffic 45 minutes, no traffic 35. The good part about I out here is that 80 and 30 are the same distance. We are very pleased with the schools, the people, and the area.

We will be moving to midlothian within a month. Thank you all for the input and one wtf pic that still doesn't make sense to me. That pic alone kept me from showing this thread to mrs ag in ok.
I know in the neighborhood we are moving into there are at least two other Ags. Always a good sign.

Ahh, okay. I am in LH too and was very surprised Deats would move. We have some mutual friends.

But no one cares about me leaving. I see how it is.

I have lived in Rockwall - Heath since 2000 and absolutely love it. Although it sounds like you made your decision already, good luck to you and your family.

Howdy! Just found this post. My family moved to Midlothian a year ago from Katy, TX and we couldn't be happier. If you need anything, feel free to email me at christi_corbin@yahoo.com. We live near Miller Elementary and I teach at Frank Seale Middle School. We have two boys ages 16 and almost 14. Would love to help your family get adjusted in any way! I'm class of '95. Best wishes on your move....you'll LOVE IT here!
