So the wife and I went today and it's big and has a huge selection of everything. I guess I'm just pessimistic but I think it's easier to get in and out of Love Field than that place. From what I can see, they're not really bringing anything new to the table other than volume and selection. I'm not sure that it's worth the hassle given the crowds and gargantuan size. Price seems about the same as other places. I'm interested to see if this place is profitable once the new & shiny factor wear off.

My Wife and Mom went today, both acted like it was the Cowboys Stadium of shopping. That's exactly why I think it will be successful, they supposedly have everything for all price ranges which leads me to believe that the women will try their hardest to talk their significant others to bring their trucks and trailers to pick up what they want despite the crowds (similar to IKEA).

They claim people from surrounding states will come here just to buy furntiure from there.

That place look ginormous. I don't think I would ever go there because it is sooooo big. IKEA was a nightmare to me. But from what I have heard, it seems to be a good place to work & the chicks in that area will flock to it. I am sure it will be profitable.

I have no intentions of going there.

But then again, I have a wife. So maybe I will.

I haven't been yet, but when my wife was looking for new couches we had to drive all over town to check out the selection at different stores. If this place consolidates the furniture shopping to one location on one day then it sounds like a win to me.

Anyone want to help me open a sports bar next door? All we have to serve is cheap beer and tvs.

Hard 8 BBQ may have already beat you to it. They recently put up a coming soon sign on the NW corner of that area.

Unfortunately, I was forced out there by the wife this last weekend.

Pros - Rather large selection of everything in one spot. Most everything seems moderately priced. Has some man sections (bar furniture, pool tables, bbq area). Takes about 10-15 minutes for the merchandise to be loaded into the car.

Cons - The wife could waste all damn day in the place. No beer.

And yes - they do sell patio furniture.

Glad to see Warren Buffett diversifying before Google ruins the car insurance business with robot cars.

NFM is the Walmart of this industry. They sell crap, but people will buy crap and then dispose of it in a couple of years without thinking of it.

Instead, how about buying higher quality furniture from a local business?

dc, are you familiar with Mathis Brother Furniture in OKC and some other places? Anyone know anything comparable? Some place with a large selection and you can get either really cheap up to really nice? Or is this that place?

Is it just me or did anyone else read dc's post in the voice of Tommy Boy?

But for now, for your customer's sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality piece of furniture from me.

They may sell crap, but they sell nice furniture, too. Just go upstairs to the design studios near the front of the building.

Give me a break.

Went yesterday, pricing on everything I checked best Amazon. I know where I'm going to browse when I'm ready to buy any new appliances, the number of models they have on the floor to check out is incredible.

Furniture is everything from "crap" dc talked about to pretty nice stuff. Great rug selection!

What percentage of NFM's inventory is actually made in Nebraska versus made in China?

Just a small plug to support local businesses and local jobs.

Rug I bought was made in the USA

Because local businesses never buy stuff from China? And apparently NFM didn't hire anybody from around here. What else are you going to complain about?

90% of furniture is made outside the US today. The furniture industry in the Carolinas is just about gone.

Ashley's wiped out most of the mom and pop's and Nebraska Furniture is going after Ashley's.

Life moves on.

My sofa from Weirs was made in NC. It cost a little more but it's made to last and I love it. Will go back to weirs for chairs soon. No more throwaway furmitire for me.

X2 om Weirs. Great place. And I bought two pieces from them recently made in Texarkana by Mayo-great quality.

I'm curious how it compares to Ikea. I'm not in the "buy it for life" phase of my furniture shopping yet, as I still move apartments a lot, and my tastes haven't matured.

I'm got an invite to go shopping there. Is it not completely open to the public? Not sure why the invite had a date range.

Weirs. Quality furniture for a fair price. My uncle (Jim Lockhart) has been a salesman at the Knox store for 30+ years if anyone needs help.

Pro- I also got an invite w/a date range. I think it is for a "soft" opening so they don't have massive crowd issues like when they opened a previous store. My invite expired while I was out of town. If yours is still valid would you mind emailing it to me (texasmomjunk at yahoo dot com)? My email said I could "share" my invite w/friends & family so I am assuming yours would be the same. Thanks!

You don't need an invite, you can just head up there and have at it.

Anyone can go during this time. We went two Sundays ago thinking it had been open awhile.... it had not, it was packed! The following Tuesday we got our "invite". If possible go during the week. I had to return on a Monday to pick up the piece and the parking lot was practically deserted.

Yeah, the invite makes it sound like a soft-opening but I knew here people were just going. Sounds like they just want to drive more traffic. I'll pass. Maybe go during a weekday this summer.
