It has kind of been discovered but Louie's is my favorite hole in the wall type place.
My current favorite is Latin Deli at the SEC of NW Hwy & Abrams (in the Aldi shopping center). Best Cuban sandwich I've ever had.
Mine is Carmine's at Montfort/Spring Valley.
not sure if it fits since it tends to get accolades, but most people don't know it's there:

that place is awesome.
Besa Italian Restaurant off of Preston and Beltline is solid. I am a big fan of Carmines. Their staff seems appreciative of all of their customers. Very rare in this day and age.

Favorite Chinese place in all of Dallas...GREAT value.
Desperados is not really a hole in the wall. And it's actually in Garland.
I would second the recommendation for Zorba's in Plano on Plank Pkwy & Preston (?) If you go, you have to have the baklava cheesecake. It's amazing.

The original is in Dallas on Greenville. That location might be considered a hole in the wall, because you had no idea it existed.
Frankie's Mexican, zorbas is one of my faves, masami sushi, haystack burger.
Another vote for Frankies at Custer south of Renner. Brisket queso and brisket enchiladas are my favorites. See a pattern?

Frankies is great. If you're on the other side of Richardson (Beltline and Planoish) then try Amigos. Same restaurant

I eat that Shady's burgers in front of Frankie's from time to time. Didn't know anything else was really back there. I will be checking that out very soon. Only work about 3 minutes from there.

Frankies Brisket enchiladas. SO GOOD. We go to the location in sachse. Anyone been to Amigos on Belt Line in Richardson? Pretty sure they're owned by the same people. Same delicious white queso and brisket enchiladas.

Poor Richards in Plano was my favorite breakfast place when we used to live there. Haven't been in 10+ years but I'm pretty certain it's still there.
I tried the fajita topped Enchilada plate at Frankie's as a result of this thread and they were pretty dang tasty. The beans weren't bad. The rice was very frozen TV dinner / On the Border'esque. Great Rita's, friendly service and nice ambiance overall.
Poor Richard's is still there! Haven't been in years though.

Please tell me this isn't a joke!! I lived in Florida for a couple of years and fell in love with Cuban sandwiches. I tried one at a place called Jimmy's in old east Dallas, but was disappointed.
