HEB is coming to Benbrook, I think my wife said its on the south side of Winscott, Across from the new mall (think south lake) and theater they're add about to building the north side of Winscott. Add the new taco villa and my new town is bumping.

That would be cool about Winscott, but I had heard that the development had fallen through a couple of years ago because of the economy. That would a good place with all of the potential growth to happen in the area. Closer to Winscott the better with traffic to and fro downtown.

Central Market is far and away the best grocery store, But its expensive

Little known fact: unlike most chains, HEB pays cash for their stores outright. That's why they typically expand more slowly than other chains. Just give it some time, it will be totally worth it!

I don't think you can put a Central Market against the other chain stores. They are just not after the same client. It's hard to find the normal everyday things there.

But I love the meat department, and when it's Beer Week.

Love our Kroger Marketplace. Larger grocery store with furniture, clothes, etc.

They are still a few years away from a big push, but the plans are in the works. They learned some tough lessons in Houston and aren't going to repeat the same mistakes in the Metro. But they are coming.
At last, our long national nightmare is finally over.

Interesting. I work at Preston/635 and drive that intersection 2x every day. That's currently a business park with a bunch of private practice medical offices. So that has to be all relocated, buildings torn down and then rebuilt as an HEB. I know the guy who runs HEB ops for NTX so I'll have to hit him up on a timeline.

Yeah, I'd have gone with Skillman/LBJ. 13 acres and basically ready to go. But I assume they wanted to be closer to the tollway.

Edit...Skillman/635 is 10 acres. Ferndale/NWH, where they already control the old Sunfresh but not the strip center, is 13.

Im sure its a done deal and no use crying about it, but Hillcrest is pretty sleepy from NWHWY almost all the way to Plano. Its ****ty to slap a mega grocery store right there

They're going for the jugular with the ultra $$$$ residential areas right there, especially south of 635 along Hillcrest. It will be yoga pants and Land Cruiser HQ and will maybe (finally) start to put the Preston/Forest and Preston/Royal Tom Thumbs out of their misery.

Probably why they didn't try to put it on the NW corner of Preston/635 where the old mall wall. Don't want the riff raff there

They already have a Central Market at Preston/Royal for that.

Something is happening at the old grocery store on Ferndale today. Drove by and they had the receiving bays open, dumpster parked by the front doors, and lots of metal and junk being pilled up outside.

I live off Hillcrest and drive that stretch south of LBJ fairly regularly; hard for me to picture an HEB right there as the traffic flow is already pretty poor at rush hour. There's gotta be some improvements to traffic ingress/egress to the area planned, I would hope. I guess it's a worthwhile trade for having an HEB right down the road though!

Denton CAD tells me they own the land at the north east corner of Parker Rd and Josey Ln just south of The Colony. I've known this for at least five years which means HEB has been blue balling me for at least five years.

Same. It's a quarter mile from my house! I don't think that area is large enough though. Only seems between 5-10 acres?

I think people would be shocked at how much land they own in NTX.

Looks like they are cleaning it out. Lots of big dumpsters.

What do they own at Skillman/635? Hadn't heard they bought anything around there.

DentonCAD says 17 acres.

They don't. There is a 10 acre piece of dead land there (southwest corner).

HEB owns property at the FM2499 and Teasley intersection in Denton county. A post on Nextdoor said there was recent activity on the property, thought they saw survey equipment and a drone in use.
A store in that location would pull from Corinth, Denton, Highland Village, Double Oak and Flower Mound. I hope they are serious about developing there.
