I recently moved here for work and want to get involved in a church. I haven't been active with a church for a while so I am looking for a good church for young adults that will have activities to help me get involved.

I am primarily looking for churches in Dallas not much further north than 635. Open to any denomination, but a bible church would be best.

My wife and I go to the Village Church Dallas campus and it's filled with a large number of young singles but I would say it can be somewhat difficult to get connected based on some of my friends' experiences. I would also recommend Watermark which seems to have a good singles ministry from what I know. Both churches are within 10-15 minutes of each other so I would recommend trying each one for several weeks and pray about where the Lord is leading. Hope that helps!

I've heard good things about the Tuesday service at Watermark. They call it The Porch and I think it is geared towards young professionals.

Watermark and The Village are your two best bets for young adults. Watermark has much more structure and ministries then The Village but both have great pastors. Both huge churches but The Porch on Tuesdays at Watermark has around 1,500 people every week and is the single ministry that supplements the main services. JP the singles pastor teaches at The Porch.

I love Northwest Bible Church at Northwest Highway and the toll road. Would highly recommend visiting one Sunday .

Those all sound like really good options. I think I will try each one a week at a time and see where the best fit for me is.

Here's a link to details about The Porch:

As far as the Village, most of the younger singles go to the 5pm or 7:15pm service on Sunday nights. Here's the address:

3877 Walnut Hill Lane
Dallas, Texas 75229

My wife and I attend the Heights Baptist. It's a little further north than you like (75 and PGBT), but it might be worth looking into. Not sure if you fall into a "Marrieds" category or "Singles", but there are about 4 "Young Married" small groups, several other "Older Marrieds" and several Singles/College groups (though I'm not real familiar with that category). It's one of the few churches we've visited that actually has "Sunday School". If you're a young married and interested in attending, we're in the Purpose class.

Watermark for The Porch on Tuesdays

Northwest Bible for the lessons on Sundays

The Village has Matt Chandler, who is the man...but I also feel it's really hard to get connected due to the fact that most people only go for service.

I've been going to The Village nearly two years and absolutely love it. Matt Chandler is incredible and the church is full of spiritually sound people. I also was frustrated at first by it being a little tough to get involved, but I joined a home group recently which has opened doors for me. It's been great.

Watermark is solid. I've been a few times but I like The Village more. The Porch on Tuesdays at Watermark is good, and I try to go when I'm not traveling during the week for work.

It's a little north of 635 , but I love Bent Tree Bible fellowship in Carrollton... Pete Briscoe is the best I have ever heard!!

I'm jealous of those of you that get to hear Matt Chandler - I listen to his podcasts when I get a chance - guy is amazing.

We go to Lakepointe in Rockwall and love it, but it's a bit of a drive from Dallas proper, but it's been great for us (though we were young married and not young, single)

To get things back on track...

I've gone to The Village for a long time and it's a great church for more than just Matt. I like that there's a purpose and direction behind everything they do. The Dallas campus has a high concentration of young singles and attracts the SMU crowd as well. There are still a number of older singles, marrieds and senior adults there as well.

I've also been involved with Watermark and have a lot of friends there. It's a very good church as well and has a lot of organized programs if that's what you're looking for. The Porch is a great place to get solid teaching and get connected with others.

That being said, these aren't the only two churches in Dallas and it depends a lot on where you're coming from. First Baptist Downtown is a great church or Providence in Frisco as well. Give each church a fair shot and spend more than one week there to get a feel for it.

I will second Ol Waco Ag regarding Bent Tree. My wife and I attended there for a little while. The teaching is great; I've even listened to several of the sermons online since we left. They don't have Sunday schools, so that meant one more night out of the week to meet up with a small group...not a deal breaker, just part of the equation. We also moved to the other side of Plano making it an even longer commute. Another big plus in my book is that they just paid off their building debt and during that entire time they were putting 10% toward missions, etc.

I am a member of the First Baptist Church Dallas (in downtown dallas) and love it. The young married's sunday school classes are excellent and there are several to choose from. Dr Jeffress is an excelent pastor and the church is in the middle of expanding its campus.
