Heading north for the OU/A&M game. Want to spend some time at a casino just across the border. Which ones are decent? What kind of table minimums can we expect on a Thursday evening?

Choctaw in Durant is just north of the border along 75-69.
Winstar is along 35 I'm not sure where exactly.

I have only been to Choctaw and mainly played blackjack and table minimums are normally $5 with $.50 ante.

Considering you're going to be on 35 heading north, Choctaw is your only option.

If you are going up I35 to Norman then Winstar is the first exist north of the red river. I believe the table games are the same as mentioned at Choctaw I have only gone and played some poker up there.

There are two big ones along 35. You've got Winstar right over the border. Big, probably exactly what you're looking for.

The other option is Riverwind which is on the south side of Norman just off of 35.

Avoid riverwind in norman. I prefer winstar. Be advised that all casinos on oklahoma charge a $0.50 ante per hand.

Thanks for the heads up. We are flexible on route. We're leaving Thursday after work so likely won't cross into OK until around 11 or midnight. If it's easier for us to do 45/75, then we'll do that. Friday, we have all day to limp our way into Norman.

Ante on table games? I'm not familiar with that. And, to think I thought I've gambled about everywhere (Vegas, Lake Chuck/Shreveport, Jackson, St. Louis, Colorado, Atlantic City...).

Basically, just looking for a large parking lot with a 1/2-assed casino to pull the RV into and kill a few hours. Winstar sounds like it's up our alley.

I think you meant Winstar.

I'm very familiar with Winstar. I play a lot of poker, and have spent a decent amount of time there. The poker room is very nice. The casino overall is kind of a dump. Depends on what game you're looking for. They charge for alcohol, and as mentioned make you pay a "tax" for each hand in card games. There is some law that bans dice games, so they have table games (probably about 20-30 tables from what I could tell), poker (good sized poker room, probably 50 tables), and a lot of slot machines. If you're going to play poker make sure you get a player's card. Gives you a free $9 that you can use at any of the casino restaurants.

They've done a lot to make it more appealing (adding some decent restaraunts and shopping, and they get a surpring amount of quality bands there).

Winstar is a good halfway point to OKC as well. If you're planning on staying there overnight, the rooms at the casino can be pricey, so I'd look for a cheaper on in Gainesville (only 10 minutes away).

blynch - I don't want this to come off as a "oh, look at me", but I've only gambled in Vegas where the drinks are "FREE". How much do they charge for drinks at Winstar? Are they cheap because you're gambling or do they gouge them to like $5.25 a beer. Thanks.

drinks aren't too bad. they were $5.00 for a mid level whiskey and coke and $3 for a beer when I went to see Alice in Chains.

Riverwind is fine cause they show sports above the dealers heads like ESIPN. Winstar is bigger. Choctaw is out 75 for people who don't know their maps.

Yes 50 cent ante on all table games at Indian Reservation casinos.

Winstar can be crazy on Friday nights, especiallt if there's a decent concert going on. Choctaw has a KOA campground on site.

There are some which will cover your ante in blackjack if you get a players card.

Keep in mind that the beer will be 3.2% ABV. Stick with mixed drinks.
