Anyone know of an authentic place....a place that puts cheese wiz on their Philly is authentic at least according to my husband.

There was Billadephia's in Arlington, but it is now closed.

they don't put cheese whiz on it, but it's pretty hard to beat fred's in my opinion. 2 locations that i know of, one in plano and one in richardson.

I HIGHLY recommend Donnie's Hot Dog Shop & Philly's Steak on Matlock in Arlington. Best cheesesteak I've ever had here in Texas.

The owner moved here from Philly and is the nicest lady. She makes the sandwiches nice and greasy, and the fries with vinegar are a nice touch too.

Yes, it is, and it's delicious. Texican, add mushrooms, with fries instead of chips FTW.

Billadelphia's original shack is still at the NW corner of 183 service road and Industrial (FM 157)

Listen to Bravnot. I've been going to Fred's for years...there is no better philly around. Period.

I know that there is a Texadelphia in Las Colinas on MacArthur just north of 114 and George Bush, but just south of 635.

What happened to the one by Richardson Bike Mart?

The Texadelphia in Richardson closed a couple years ago. I still go to the one in Old Town at Greenville and Lovers, next to the Freebirds/Fuddruckers. Right now they actually have it painted maroon with the block ATM on the front. It looks much better than the puke orange it was painted last month.

I've seen Fred's, but have never tried it. It is definitely on my list!

That sucks. I wonder why. Maybe I haven't been in a couple of years??

So I tried Fred's yesterday, and I have to say that it was the best cheesesteak I have had outside of Philly!

There may be a disagreement when discussing the best burgers around...but there is no disagreement regarding the best philly.

It's Fred's...hands down. Best service, best food, best sauce (you have to get Fred's sauce with it), great fries....

I haven't been to Freds, but looks like I need to....I do agree with the above poster that Charley's is pretty darn good considering that it's in a food court in the mall...I eat at the one in Frisco all the time...

I'm not saying it's the best, but the one at Jersey Mikes is pretty dang good.

I've had Lenny's, Jersey Mike's, Texadelphia (blech!) and just about everyone else's. The only place I haven't had a philly that has been mentioned on this thread is Donnie's in Arlington. And given the comments so far, I'll have to try it.

However, of all the places that I have been, Fred's is in a league of it's own. If you like Philly's as much as I do, try Fred's and see what you're missing.

When I clicked on this thread I was also going to say Jersey Mikes.

For chain restaurant I think Jersey Mikes and Charlies are by far the best

that being said........

I just went to Fred's yesterday and its by far the best philly ive ever had in Dallas.

Its way better than Jersey Mikes.

Not even close.

Just a really good sandwich

I live in the east dallas area and frequent Lenny's Subs on Gaston Ave and Philly Connection in Lakewood off Gaston. I prefer Philly Connection because if decide for takeout, the bread isn't soaked in grease when I get home.
