The other thread got me wondering if there is a Mexican snow cone place anywhere in the area.

That's funny since a Mexican guy I used to work with introduced me to them as Mexican snow cones.

I do appreciate the correct term despite your use of derogatory language.

To answer chick, it's a snow cone with flavored with real fruit juice and actual fruit pieces (some still do use some type of syrup as well).

Bump. It's hot and I can't find snow cones in the area.

I don't think you can find anything Mexican in Grapevine or Southlake unless it's attached to a lawn implement. Try Irving or Euless. At least they're sort of close.

Cooter - If you are just looking for normal snow cones, there's a place near the corner of Kimball and Dove. It's to the west of the building that has a dry cleaner in it on the corner.

Other than that, I know there is a Bahama Breeze in Flower Mound but that's too far to drive just for a snow cone.

La Palatera also offers about 25 flavors of snow cones (raspas). Again, there are some interesting ones, such as blue coconut, lime, pickle (sour or dill), pina colada, etc. Pictured above is a potent "diablito" snow cone (i.e., little devil), flavored with salt, lime, and chile--not for the feint of heart.

I've seen that place. I'll have to try it soon.
I tried the sno cone stand off MacArthur/183 yesterday. It tasted like a snow cone.
I was too chicken to try raspas/knockout/chamoyada. Intrigued by the chamoyada but didn't know how to order....
