I grew up in the Houston area, and will be moving to Dallas for work in a couple months. I went to Lake Conroe a lot during my childhood, and still do today when I can. I just wanted to know what people more familiar with the DFW area thought about Lake Hubbard and how it compares to Lake Conroe in terms of recreation, scenery, fishing, etc.

Lake Conroe is prettier because of the pine trees.. I think they are both about the same size.... Ray Hubbard used to have good fishing in certain spots (I'm not sure if that is still the case).... it's a pretty decent water skiing lake, but you do have to watch out for some of the stumps, especially when the water level is low.... for fishing only, try Lake Lavon.... much less crowded and easier to get around... not a good skiing lake though....... avoid Lake Lewsiville.....

Do yourself a favor and drive the 2 hours to Possum Kingdom. You'll thank me later.

I have had some limited crappie and bass fishing success on Ray Hubbard...more success drinking beer and tubing!

Our house may be for sale in Rockwall here very shortly if you know anyone that might be interested!
