There is a UT Austin at Dallas MBA program that would rival if not beat SMU. I think A&M and Baylor offer similar programs in Dallas but without the prestige.

UT Arlington was rated pretty high back in the 90's when I was looking around. Higher than UTD anyway. That may have changed.

t.u.'s program is probably best, but that's only unless you've got around 75 grand lying around.

After that, I would say SMU. Again, not cheap, of course.

Best bang for the buck: UTD.

I don't think A&M offers its MBA program in Dallas, just Houston.

The wife is in SMU's program and they seem to really have their act together. She says her profs right now are really good. I went to an informational meeting for SO's of new students and they gave a good presentation. It's definitely time consuming but I'm guessing any of them are.

I did the SMU program. It's slick, but the night program doesn't get the career support the day program does. They really try to place the day-mba with some internships with big companies they have carved out almost specifically for smu mbas.

I had it paid for 100% by my company. So it was worth the price paid for me. For the cost they are asking now I wouldn't think it would be worth it unless you are in some very specific jobs.

If you are looking for highly ranked schools, your only options are UT Austin at Dallas and SMU. But both of those programs will cost a good bit.

As a Professional MBA grad of Cox, the three best programs are SMU, McCombs in Dallas and UTD.

Frankly, I would look hard at UTD. That's where I would have gone but at the time I was looking they didn't offer a professional program and I couldn't afford to go full-time and not have an income. UTD is an up and comer and will be, if it's not already, the best 4 yr undergrad school in North Texas in my opinion.

You are looking at $70k+ for McCombs and Cox if you are footing the bill.

I've heard when you factor in all costs SMU is about 80k exactly now.

That doesn't surprise me at all. I think my tab was ultimately about $75k when I graduated in 2004.

Not the best, but I started my MBA at Texas A&M - Commerce this semester. I'm trying to pay upfront as I go (since I already have a student loan from TAMU and 2 mortgage notes), so I could not afford the SMU's of the world. I also plan to stay in the field (if not the same company) I am already working in.

Univ. of Dallas is a bad choice...heard they do not have accreditation.

I know a lot of people generally look down on it, but does anyone have any experience or educated opinions on University of Phoenix? They offer both a online MBA and regular classroom through campuses in Irving and North Dallas.

ANd please no "U of Phoenix sucks" comments without something to back it up.

I'm trying to compare it to A&M Commerce (which has classes in McKinney), Univ. of Dallas (Classes in Frisco).

My eldest daughter received an Executive MBA from SMU ten years after graduating from A&M. She said it was well worth the effort and money.

It's a joke of a degree. My sister is a recruiter at a Fortune 500 company and they laugh when somebody puts down they graduated from U. of Phoenix on their resume. Those resumes get filed into the trash can.
